My SD card is causing my computer to glitch.

Hello,
A long time ago, I found an SD card that I have been using until now for my digital camera. However, there was a small problem: when I inserted my SD card into the reader and tried to open the documents on my card, my computer would start to bug out like crazy, the documents would never open, and "Windows Explorer" would eventually crash. In short, it was a disaster, but I found a way to work around the issue since my desktop computer could read the card correctly. So, although it was complicated, I would just put the photos on the desktop computer and transfer them to my laptop via USB stick.
However, I recently acquired a digital SLR camera and have thus kept the same card which I transferred into it. But when I tried to put my photos (the SD card containing photos from the old camera + three or four from the new one) onto the desktop computer, the reader no longer recognizes the card. There is no audible signal indicating that a new device has been connected, no window appears, and the icon is not present on the desktop, unlike usual. I've tried unplugging and replugging, but nothing works. And I’ve checked, my card is not locked.
Could someone enlighten me about the card that causes my laptop to bug and/or for my desktop computer that no longer reads it?

I hope someone experienced or having gone through the same thing can help me =)

Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.6.13

Try to check with a colleague if it works, and if it does, then it's your computer

    Good evening
let me know if the device still reads the photos; if so, there is a driver issue; otherwise, have you tried using the DSLR software to connect the camera directly to the computer via USB?
make sure to install the provided disks and make the connection.

My digital device no longer reads the photos, but the DSLR does.
    I will try via USB.
