How to enable com port 3

Hello,

I need to use my modem to connect remotely to a device like an alarm system.. but in the list of COM ports, I only see 1

yet the modem is properly connected to COM 3. So is there an easy way to make COM 3 appear so that my modem works?

    Hello,

    can you change the port number;

    control panel system properties/hardware/device manager/(you will find a list of devices, you will choose Modems/Agere System HDA modem/advanced settings/advanced port settings, then you choose port number 3)
