Hello,

Can the PC microphone jack (Toshiba L555) be used as a line input to record from a HiFi chain?

Also, I can't find the "line input" signal in the Audacity software usage. If someone could help a senior like me with a detailed answer!!

Best regards

the input signal levels of the microphone input are too weak to accept a "line in" signal.
The sound seems to be in danger of saturating, and it is possible that you deteriorate your sound card ... that said, some sound cards allow you to reconfigure the input/output types at will

Thank you for your reply. Since I don’t have a line input on my PC, can we install a sound card?

You have a built-in microphone on your PC so you know how to record.
and you have an orange or pink input for the external microphone.

I simply have a microphone input and a headphone output with no color distinction.

Have you found your built-in Recorder on your PC?
Look through all programs or type Recorder in the search.

I found the tape recorder, but it only accepts short recordings of very poor quality, which is really not what I’m looking for.
