Invalid or Too Long File Name

Hello,

I have a problem when I try to delete certain folders (whether on my internal or external hard drive). Indeed, I get the following error message:
"The file name is not valid or is too long. Specify a different file name."

Out of caution, I decided to rename several folders and ended up with the following path: I:\Save Laptop\M\B\I. And still the same error message. I have already deleted several files AND folders inside the infamous folder M, so I really don't understand. Moreover, I have the same problem with several other folders (including one in Program Files on my Windows partition).

Does anyone have any clue as to the origin of the problem? Or even a solution (if possible ^^)?

Configuration: Windows 7

It's good, I succeeded after reading this post:

http://www.infos-du-net.com/forum/291539-11-dossier-supprimable

by entering my USB drive to "repair errors." The folder was then deleted without any problem.

See you!

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I already searched the forum for this issue, but none of the proposed solutions work. I tried in safe mode but nothing worked, and the command prompt didn't help either. It won't let me delete the folder!!!

Please, I really need help...

Hello Modesto,

I have this problem with deleting a folder/video from a USB stick:
Neither deletion nor cut/paste is possible
The name of this file is ...................too long; Specify a different name

Considering that it's a USB, supressplus doesn't reach this target (or am I not doing it right?)
Do you have any idea of the method to "clean" the USB, please?

Thank you and have a good weekend.

Sorry for the spam, but I finally solved the problem on my own. I decided to go big and used Linux to delete everything. And of course, it worked flawlessly :D

The moral of the story: Linux is really useful after all ;)
