issue with EBP accounting Solved

Hello everyone,

I am using the EBP Accounting Pro V9.1 software and I am encountering a small problem, if someone can help me, thank you in advance.
I was entering entries and after having entered about 80, I received the following message: "index calculation problem for this new entry, please restart an indexation of the entries" but I have no details on how to start this re-indexation and I can no longer enter anything for this month and in this journal.
Does anyone have a solution?

I just changed my PC and upgraded from XP to Vista.
Problem: EBP accounting is incompatible with Vista and EBP couldn't care less. After two heated phone conversations, I couldn't get anything out of them; I have to upgrade to version 2009 to be compatible with Vista.

And not even an upgrade just for the OS, nor of course a discount. Now that’s business!

weak point in general: reliability... I've struggled quite a bit with EBP (among other things PERVASIVE DATABASE), I won't tell you about gescom,
we can't say EBP is useless, but bugs on bugs we have to deal with. Maybe the others are okay or not. I have to say that I’m a jack of all trades, so in testing I discover a lot of "inconveniences"; it becomes more serious when we have to deliver a report by a deadline, that's when we do a lot of uncommon manipulations and the risk is high... I'm optimistic I've bought updates since 2001, hoping for a great improvement!! but am I a perfectionist? improvement yes and other discoveries especially in GESCOM PRO V9, where the agenda crashes without warning the software freezes, I restart the machine and surprise I have a window without a menu... WELL...
it's not over, what? the HOTLINE suggests I reinstall, I know how to do that... but...
If someone were to pay me to look into this, I think I would invite everyone to lunch....

Hello,

I bought EBP accounting 2007, installed it on Windows XP: no problem.
I'm changing computers, and it's running Vista.
I can reinstall EBP accounting, open my file, but then the problems start! For example, I want to consult the chart of accounts and it crashes badly.

Questions:
1) Is this version compatible with Vista?
2) If not, is there an "upgrade" available?

I had this problem with the previous EBP software 2004, after installing the VISTA theme, EBP told me that the update would fix the problem but it's the same. I have an HP printer, and I print very well outside of my software, for example, it works with word processing

Hi Mike Albert, I purchased EBP Accounting and Invoicing in 2006 and only did one update (yesterday) to version 2008 (apparently updates are mandatory in case of a tax audit, too bad I would have liked to keep this version as long as possible...). Everything went smoothly, internet activation, etc., but I can't open my current accounting file; a message says it already exists in a previous software (well, of course), do you have a trick?

Hello,

I have a problem with EBP; I did an action like sending documents to the accountant from the toolbar menu at the top, and now I can no longer modify my entries. It gives me an error message saying that I can no longer access them and that they are no longer editable.
Is there a way to make them editable again? Thanks for giving me a hand because I find their support service overpriced!!

Here is the message that appears when I try to open a folder:
The folder you are trying to open is meant for a newer version of the software!
It cannot be opened until you update the software installed on this machine.

- I made a backup in EBP Compta Pro v11.1, unupdated version
- Because of a problem, I'm formatting my hard drive, reinstalling EBP with the CD, same license key and everything,
- I restore the backup file, everything goes very well, no error messages,
- I open EBP and I open the freshly restored folder and there ERROR

"The folder you are trying to open is meant for a newer version of the software!
It cannot be opened until you update the software installed on this machine."

What do I do?

There are several V11.1 from 11.1 to 11.1r7
You must not have the correct release, download the latest one (11.1r7)

Yes, don't worry, it works very well under Vista. I managed to sort it out. My problem was due to having two different versions of EBP installed; there was a conflict, but I found the solution, and without the assistance of EBP, who deserve a big fat ZERO.

the problem is not new, and it is because of reactions like yours that we can no longer install a second license on a laptop. In case of hardware change, your EBP reseller is able to handle that for you... provided you have one. You want to manage it on your own: fine, but don’t ask EBP for help if needed. Go ask Ciel how they operate!!
I don't know where you work, but do you work for free? As for me, no. However, when I can help, I don't hesitate.
To come back to Open Line, EBP has completely rewritten a new range. Initially, files from "old versions" are not recoverable. That will come. But Open Line is one of the first products to use the features of Windows 7. You can't have it all. In any case, ask your reseller to help you with that, they will do it without any problem.
Furthermore, you have new versions at quite reasonable costs, but if your current version is sufficient for you, there is no reason to change.

I also have problems with EBP accounting but version 2004. I'm sorry, but it was working very well until now, except that the computer's motherboard gave out and now there's a problem. Can someone tell me how to find the backups on the hard drive? Where are they?
P.S.: I have been using EBP programs for many years, and in the beginning, back in the 90s, people who bought the programs more or less served as testers, while still having support, so since then I haven't taken the support because I didn't see the point. Moreover, when we switched to the Euro, there were bugs in the programs and, oddly enough, everything was fixed in the next version. Well, maybe that's normal!!!

I have the same problem. I was working smoothly with EBP Compta 2003 on a laptop running XP until Windows crashed my hard drive during a check with the tool provided for that purpose (CHKDSK). I reinstalled this version of EBP on a new PC that runs VISTA, activated compatibility for programs running under XP, declared administrator management, restored the ongoing folders, I can now open the accounts but there are functions that are not usable, notably those related to the chart of accounts, I haven't found a solution for that.
Question regarding Windows 7:
Has anyone tested any of these old versions of EBP Compta (2003 or others) on this new OS? From what I've read, there are fewer compatibility issues than with Vista for older software.

I'm using Commercial Management 2004, but my CD doesn't work.
So I'm looking for this version....
Ebp no longer has the log; the only solution is to buy an update, while version 2004 suits me perfectly.

We have been using EBP since 2004 (EBP Accounting 2004) for the cash management of an association without any issues.
We decided to use it for our own accounting in 2010 to replace Money.
Our problem is that we can't program monthly operations such as EDF payments, taxes, etc.
On Money, it was very simple, but EBP doesn't seem to be great!
It seems to be called "subscription management," but we're struggling with the issue.
Can someone provide some details?

to respond to photodia56, I assume we are talking about payment by installments for monthly transactions, you need to record each due date in the month concerned by the direct debit, either in the journal of accounting entries or in the bank journal depending on your way of operating.

- When I launch the reindexing, the message says "the reindexing could not be completed correctly" ... great!
- When I launch a recalculation of the balances, I get a message of imbalance even though it is balanced!

And since then, the same problem persists....

I called EBP: technical problem: pay €300 before we tell you anything!!! Well, of course!!

Does anyone have this problem???

Hello everyone,  Similar problem here: this morning, the Pro accounting v13.1 crashes at startup (exception 5 in ebptable.dll). Of course, a reinstallation is useless, except for draining patience and time.  I no longer want to argue again with their autistic hotline where the word bug doesn't exist, nor with their even more autistic sales service that only knows how to sell its overpriced new version or a so-called "support" (at a crazy price) that mainly serves to collect bugs that a quality assurance should have discovered internally.  Honestly, it's despairing for a software industry in our beautiful hexagon. EBP is leading the way in siphoning off cash, but 10 years behind when it comes to producing correct software, respectful of standards and the existing know-how, and reasonably debugged.  I no longer want to renew this piece of junk pseudo-"support", not at that price nor for the little service provided. EBP shifts the responsibility of its own bugs onto its users, telling them that if they want to be de-bugged, they need to cough up more money -- instead of apologizing for this fault (which can happen, we understand) that they should fix for free.  Support is to provide a solution to a user _problem_, not to reluctantly agree to fix (or not) technical issues caused _solely_ by the incompetence and/or negligence of the software publisher.  The only thing I see when reading forums where EBP users (of all products combined) are mistreated and unhappy: heading toward a non-EBP solution and full speed ahead!

Hello everyone,  As for me, I have a problem with EBP and I admit, not being an accountant, I have no solutions.  So, the company I work for uses version 9.1 of EBP accounting. However, a subsidiary of my company acquired another company, and they used version 13 of EBP accounting.  Is there a procedure (that wouldn’t involve purchasing version 13 or higher of the accounting software) to be able to open the backups with our version? I understand your frustration, however, I'm not sure that a non-EBP solution would be more effective because I've already read quite a few negative reviews about Ciel. Personally, I have an old version of EBP (compta2003) and I don't have much to complain about. It works without too many problems. The only issue I encountered that really stressed me out for a while happened when I changed my PC. The new one was running Vista and then... it was a mess! The older versions of EBP software do not work on Vista or Windows Seven. But there is a way to get around the problem. The solution is to create a virtual machine with "VirtualBox" or "VirtuaPC", reinstall XP there, then install the EBP software, and then it works!

Hello,  Here is my problem. I am working on EBP Compta 2007.1. I had to format my PC, I reinstalled EBP and restored my folder but when I try to open it, it tells me "The folder you are trying to open is intended for a newer version. Therefore, opening the folder is not possible until the software is updated."  I have never done an update (unless it happens automatically which I doubt)  I need to send the accounting documents quickly.  Can you help me? Thank you.

hello,  I think you haven't installed the correct version of EBP accounting. For a 2007 version, you need version 11 of EBP. With EBP (like many software), you can install a newer program version, but never an older version than your files. Moreover, during the installation on your hardware, you will need your software license and the Web key to unlock it again. If you don't have all of that, install version 13, and you have 30 days to test this version. You will be able to restore your file, which will be automatically migrated to the new version...... except. Normally, there shouldn't be any issues with these manipulations.  cricrou38

Hello KIKI65, I have performed this operation many times without having any issues with folder restoration. And EBP does not provide software updates for free. Have you been able to enter your license key from the demonstration folder? If so, it could mean that the installation CD you used is indeed the correct one, but in that case, the restoration should be done normally. Still, check your archives to see if you can find another CD that the technical support may have sent you during the time you were entitled to it. The only solution to this problem is to install the required version or a later version to open your folder. Good luck!

Hello, without meaning to, I accidentally deleted everything. So now, nothing is left; when I turned my computer back on, it was as if I just bought it, no data, no photos, my accounting, which was finished, even that, which was saved on the hard drive, has been erased too. Hello,  all may not be lost! There are data recovery software options, for example https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/11635-hdd-recovery-pro/  or https://sebsauvage.net/logiciels/restoration.html  that allow you to recover as much data as possible even after formatting the hard drive.  I have already used disk-recovery. It's relatively easy to use. If you haven't overwritten the location of your data, it should be recoverable.
