Error message "Scan Devices, Please Wait"

Hello, an error message appears at each startup: scan device, please wait.... Channel 0 master: ST3120006.....
Channel 1 master: No devices.

The main hard drive is SATA (160GB Seagate) and the second hard drive has been configured as a slave (MAXTOR 160GB, jumper on Slave) and it is IDE, connected with a ribbon to the floppy drive.
There are also two DVD burners, with no issues.
I formatted the Maxtor (IDE) hard drive which I use only for backups. And I still get the same error message, although it's faster now.
My hard drive was not recognized in "My Computer/manage/disk management/" and by switching it to SLAVE, it was recognized in disk management, so I was able to format it.
But the message "scan devices, please wait" still appears.
How can I make this error message disappear?
Thank you very much for all the information that could help me

Configuration: Windows XP SP 2 / Firefox 3.6.8

    Hello,
This message is not an error message; it is perfectly normal for the BIOS to scan the PATA (IDE) and SATA devices during the POST.
