Destroy your motherboard "naturally".

Solved

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to destroy my PC's motherboard but to make it look "natural," I mean I want it to not be obvious that I destroyed it.
I've tried cutting a jumper and scratching the small metal battery, but nothing...

Thank you in advance for your responses.

it's a terrible behavior, but oh well ...

overclock the processor by 2 or 3 times its original speed, don't worry, everything will melt...

If you don't succeed the first time, just call it version 1.0

I don't have access to overclocking, my motherboard is locked!

I can't take apart my motherboard, but I've found a more radical solution:
I'm going to burn a capacitor with my soldering iron!

The big black mark isn’t going to look very natural...

A soldering iron on a capacitor leg for 5 minutes will burn the capacitor and that's it.

Ah good idea but will it leave any traces? Hey, the capacitors are the little "batteries" glued to the motherboard?

It's any round block that sticks out from your motherboard.

I'm pulling one out, it won't show, will it?

Don't rip anything out; just heat a capacitor until it burns out.

Take your soldering iron, hold it against one of the legs connecting the capacitor to the motherboard. Wait for 5 minutes, just keeping the soldering iron in contact with the leg. And there you go, burnt capacitor, motherboard down.

Good idea, I think I'm going to do that!
Should it be done with the PC on or off?

Don't mess around, go for it with the pliers, my lord, crack it between the two eyes and boom, no more motherboard.
Drain the oil, fire it up, and bam, fuck it or add water, it's simple but no one thought of it.

Does it work or do you leave it in a corner of the garden?

lol, there's nothing "natural" about that...

try randomly swapping connectors in the thing that connects the power supply to the motherboard, (I mean inside the 20-pin connector)

that should create a nice firework show, or you could put aluminum between a bunch of connectors, or just go straight for 220 (be careful not to die)

and you can bring it back saying there was a lightning strike nearby and it fried.
(unplug the equipment you don't want to lose, graphics card, disk, memory..)

Hello,

to make the insurance work?
I'm asking this question because there is a much simpler way if that's the case... you ask a friend who has excellent insurance to make it seem like he or she or their child is responsible for the death of your PC/motherboard, etc., and then you can destroy your motherboard however you want...

It's just silly if there's no valid reason to do this... and it could backfire on you.

Have a nice day.

It's not for the insurance that I'm doing this ^^

Can we know the reason then?
To guide you better ;)

Because the current motherboard is not compatible with the processor I want to buy, I want to destroy it so I can change it.

It shouldn't be visible, I don't have access to overclock my motherboard and it's restricted (supermarket PC)...

But tell me what it is then? We won't be able to target your motivation and an appropriate "solution"...

drive over it with your car
throw it off the 20th floor
abandon it in a ditch
leave it in the rain
put it in the freezer, a little microwave on top and it will be fine, it will be dead

Krystof's solution was the best. You turn off the machine, you put a sheet of aluminum tightly glued to the motherboard, you turn it on and you move away quickly enough.

If your PC is under warranty, they will give you the same motherboard back.

If I follow up on your previous request from last night regarding the possibility of applying an updated MSI BIOS from a similar motherboard to your Acer motherboard, I deduce that Acer does not provide updates for this BIOS.

So go ahead and buy a new motherboard directly.

Cause a violent short circuit to fry it...

Isn't it going to fry the other components?

apparently all references to my post or a short circuit are being ignored by this user, let him figure it out... the most natural thing in a PC is electricity, not clamps, soldering irons or blowtorches...

If you cause a short circuit to the motherboard then no...but for more caution, make a not too "nasty" short circuit to avoid disaster if you do it wrong ;)

Do you have a tutorial to create a short circuit directly on the motherboard?

The problem with electricity is that the power supply is supposed to prevent any risk of overvoltage.
And as a last resort, it should blow itself up.

Whereas a capacitor overheating can simply be related to a manufacturing issue.

branch a surge protector on your power supply and poof a lightning strike will pass through the motherboard skouik

The other components shouldn't take a hit... I just want to destroy the motherboard!

Pass a powerful electromagnet next to everything you want to fry except bread; it doesn't work.

Like a fridge magnet?
If I stick it to the motherboard, is it going to destroy the other components?

remove the components you don’t want to burn
but why do you want to do that

Because I want to change the motherboard to change the processor (the processor I want is not compatible with my current motherboard...) so I need to destroy the current motherboard to put in another one :)

Otherwise, there's a solution: you install Vista on your PC, then you install Crysis Warhead and play on ultra high.
If needed, uninstall Vista and reinstall it; that should finish off your PC.

Let's avoid being accused of involuntary manslaughter so quickly ^^. I don't want our friend to end up like Claude François just for wanting to destroy his CM.
