Hello everyone!
Thank you for letting me know how to create a desktop shortcut icon. Note: This icon placed in the taskbar allows you to directly access your desktop.
Thank you for reading!
Aphelie.
Thank goodness you are here!

Hello,
it's the simplest (therefore the best); unfortunately, often the shortcut has been messed up... In case here is the procedure:
search for the file bureau.scf (advanced options: hidden files)
and copy it to the folder mentioned above (show hidden folders!)
or alternatively recreate it with Notepad:
Copy the following text:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Save the file as Show Desktop.scf
Drag this file to the quick launch bar
Also see alternative solutions here:
Restore the desktop icon

For Windows Seven, there’s no need to create a desktop icon because it already exists in another form: it’s the small vertical bar at the far right of the Quick Launch bar (the "show desktop" button). You just need to click on it. Hovering the mouse cursor over it without clicking makes all the windows above the desktop transparent (only the window frames are present).
Clicking this button again restores all the windows to their previous state.

Hello,
I struggled so much to find this icon... that I have to share the little trick I just found.
In fact, on Windows 7, the quick launch desktop icon hasn’t disappeared at all! It’s at the bottom right, to the right of the time. If you click in the bottom right corner on the mini rectangle, the desktop will show up by itself.
Well done Windows for this secret icon...
Good evening

Hi,
The icon in my taskbar to minimize open windows points to this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\MYNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
Unfortunately, I cannot access it, so I hope this helps you.
Otherwise, a little tip, if you want to minimize all open windows easily, just press the WINDOWS + M keys simultaneously ;)
See you soon

If everything seems wrong, mean, against you,
don't question everything.

To have the Vista icon instead of the XP icon, replace the line:
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
with
IconFile=shell32.dll,34
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
with
IconFile=shell32.dll,34
Hello everyone,
first of all, I just wanted to say thank you ^^
but also if you can't access the "Documents and settings" folder like I can't (I've never managed to do so, I don't know how others do it), I found the folder you’re looking for, "Quick Launch," here, in case it helps some of you:
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
Talk to you later!

Hello,
You move your mouse cursor over the icon that is on the desktop, you right-click, you drag the icon to the QuickLaunch part of the taskbar, and you release the right button.
A dialog box will open, and you can choose to copy here or move here, depending on whether you want to keep the icon on the desktop or not.

Thank you, I just did it, it annoys me not to have this command anymore, but how can I get the W7 icon? If it's not the same of course =P...
You can press start+D at the same time!
(start = the key with the Windows logo, next to ctrl at the bottom left)

Hi everyone,
regarding the disappearance of the desktop shortcut,
just right-click with the mouse, then select "shortcut" from the new menu. In the text field, type "desktop.scf", then click next, and that's it, a new desktop shortcut will be created.

Thank you very much to Ayok, I am lost under Se7en, I have no reference after a long use of XP, you saved me precious time! All that's left is to remove the original icon in the systray.
Hi,
While doing some research, I came across this discussion. I tried the solutions, but it doesn't work with Windows 7!!! (Since there's no more quick launch bar!) If anyone has a solution, that would be really nice!
Happy holidays to all!

Thank you for the information that allowed me to restore this desktop icon.
Aphelie.
Fortunately, you are here!
Thank you for your contributions,
and your solutions,
Just wanted to thank you for your workaround that works!!! Because unfortunately, I've tried plenty of others that should have checked the workaround before passing it on to other people!!!!
Crystal
