How to unlock my numeric keypad? Solved/Closed

Configuration: Mac OS X / Firefox 3.6.3  My numeric keypad is stuck; when I click on the numbers, they change cells! Thank you

Thank you for providing additional details, especially regarding which Mac model you are using and (most importantly) in what circumstances this happens.

Apparently, this is a problem you are encountering in a spreadsheet. It could simply be a deactivation of the numeric keypad. This can be done with the key located just above the "7" key, possibly in combination with the shift key or the "Control" key (this may depend somewhat on the specific application).

I have an iMac and it's in Excel that I'm encountering this problem. I went to System Preferences and checked: French numeric.

I've tried pressing the key above the 7 simultaneously with either the Shift key, the Command key, or the Control key. Nothing works, the symbols are entered but not the numbers.

However, I have no issue typing numbers with the Shift key on my AZERTY keyboard.

Hello Hi, try using the other shift key. The smaller one below (or the opposite). Otherwise, if it still doesn't work, you'll have to try using the fn key as well.

Just simply try to uncheck: numeric French. Numeric French is mainly used on mobile phones and allows you to avoid holding down the Shift key for typing numbers.
