when you start the computer, you should see a line like
Press Esc to enter setup
: so you "press esc" ...
if you don’t see a line like that, you can try smashing the Esc, F1, F2 keys during boot...

It would have been more appropriate to open a new topic since this one dates back to 2005.

In any case, the bis or more precisely the setup has nothing to do with the operating system, whatever it may be, since it is loaded before the system. It can rarely be updated by flashing the firmware, but this is an operation to be done only exceptionally.

Furthermore, on recent PCs, the BIOS has been replaced by UEFI, which is graphical and more powerful, whereas the "BIOS" is in text mode.

To access the BIOS, you need to press a key or combination of keys at startup (boot); this will appear at the bottom of the screen, and you must not delay tapping it several times for it to be recognized. It can be esc, del, delete, F1, F2, F10, or others, depending on the brands and the firmware (let's say BIOS) used.

Once the modifications are made, they must be saved (typically with the F10 key) before the OS starts.

Il faut d'abord redémarrer avant qu'elle n'affiche Windows. Appuie sur la touche Suppr si c'est un HP, ou sur la touche Échap. Une fois dans le BIOS, va sur Boot Advanced pour changer le premier démarrage.

Hello,
The method to access the BIOS has nothing to do with the installed operating system.
First, check if it's indicated on the screen (for a brief moment) when you power on your PC. If it's not indicated, search for the user manual for your PC; it's mentioned in there.

Okay. First of all, you're in the wrong forum. Here, we don't use Windows but Linux. Secondly, it would be best to create a new thread.

However, for your BIOS problem, you just need to enter it (which you have apparently managed to do), and look for the boot sequence in order to set it so that it starts with your CD or DVD drive. Then just insert the CD into the drive and restart.
