On a Mac, where does a scanned file get saved?

Hello,

My mother needs to send me important files but doesn't know how to use her Mac perfectly... She scans the documents but doesn't know where the destination file is.

Since I have a PC, I have no idea how to guide her, there’s no assistant that opens, and of course, there’s no work station to launch the scanner, like in Windows.

Thank you for your responses!

    Hello,

It depends on the software and the scanner used.
For example, if you use a Canon scanner with Canon software, the software will automatically create a folder named MP Navigator in the Images folder.
But in the preferences of this software, you can change the destination location.

If you use Preview or Image Capture, which are already installed on Mac, you have the option to choose the destination location directly at the bottom of the dialog window when starting the scan.

In any case, you always have a default location that you can modify as you wish.

    Best regards

She has an HP C4680 printer. Can you tell me how to access the Preview and Image Transfer software? I live far away and can only guide her by phone! Thank you.

I no longer have a working HP scanner, and I can't remember where the scans were stored.
But to get the most out of it, it's best to use the corresponding drivers and software.
The drivers for Mac OS 10 are here:

Moreover, once the drivers and software are installed, you always have the online Help menu.
And always go through the preferences that will surely allow you to choose the location.

Software like Image Transfer or Preview can simply be found here

Thank you for all this information. In the meantime, she has found the destination file, but now there's a new problem; her printer only scans half of the document... But that's another issue, thanks again for helping me!
