Facebook: prevent someone from adding me?

Hello,

I would like certain people not to be able to add me as a friend on fB, it’s important, that way I won’t have to ignore their invitations. I don’t want “certain people” to know that I have ignored them; rather, I really prefer that they can’t add me, because I would feel a bit obliged to add them, that’s the problem (personal reason). It’s just some specific people, but NOT EVERYONE.

-Otherwise, if that doesn’t work: is it possible that when I become friends with someone, to ensure that THEIR OWN FRIENDS do not see that I have become friends with the person who added me? Because when you become friends with someone on fB, all of that person’s friends will be notified because of the WALL: so it’s making sure that I don’t appear on their wall which indicates that I have become friends.

-Is it also possible to hide a friend from my friend list, so that my friends don’t see them?

There you go, I know I’m a bit complicated but it’s quite important to know, above all, how to prevent someone from adding me.

Thank you, but I cannot block someone who is not my friend. I would like to block someone without them being my friend, so that they cannot add me as a friend, in fact.

Hi, just snoop around Facebook: top right -> Settings -> Privacy -> Blocked people.   -- Has: Macbook & Windows 7 Professional.

Otherwise regarding adding someone as a friend:  One day I tried to send a friend request to someone, but that request reset as if I hadn't done anything. Then I tried again a second time to add them as a friend but included a PERSONAL MESSAGE with it. And it reset again. And I can't even see my personal message in the sent box. Is this normal? Or is there a problem with FB? Normally, I should see my message appear in the "sent box" and did it reset because I was ignored? (twice)
