Hello,

I have an ASUS EEE PC 4G laptop and I performed the updates as required, and upon rebooting, a page got stuck with a DOS display. I restarted it by removing the battery. When I tried to restart it, the screen remained black. I tried everything, and it won't boot anymore. Only the green and blue LEDs are on.
If you could give me a tip. Thank you in advance.
Configuration: linux

a page has become stuck with a DOS display,

Can you describe this screen a bit more precisely, especially the last lines written? In my opinion, your graphics card is no longer recognized and you are now in text mode. But don't worry, if that's the case, it can be fixed. Also, please specify your graphics card and your Linux distribution (Ubuntu, Debian, Xandros, Mandriva, etc...).

    Good luck

a page has been stuck with a DOS display,

    hello,
oh if you're on Linux there's no DOS which, for your information, is a standalone operating system, so being stuck in DOS doesn't mean anything at all....
    see you

Hello, I don't know if I have DOS under LINUX, what I do know is that upon rebooting, a black screen with colored text appeared like DOS under Windows, and then nothing else, complete black screen. Sorry for my poor expression.

      Jeanbi,

I’m describing to you what I have; when I press the power button, I only see the LED of the light bulb (green color) and the Wi-Fi LED (blue color). The screen doesn’t turn on at all, and I have nothing else whether I remove the battery or not, it doesn’t make a difference. I’ve tried everything you told me, and nothing changes, that’s what worries me.
      Thank you.

    re,
do you have another PC running Windows, a mini 1 gig USB stick?
    if so

If I understand correctly, what you're telling me to do is to download the shortcut you gave me onto a USB drive and plug it in before starting my PC. My question is, will the USB drive launch by itself or do you have a technique to launch it? Another thing, we agree that your program is on Windows and that the program on my EEEPC is on Linux.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    re,
1 The program is to be loaded on Windows, you need to run it and you'll be able to create a bootable USB key
    choose fedora12livecd
then you start the eepc with the key, you press escape directly and you choose usb key
    see you later

It doesn't work, no matter how much I press escape, nothing shows up and the keys don't work either.

It should be noted that nothing works from the moment it's turned on; there are simply the LEDs that light up.

    re
    what did you update?
because it’s not the OS that could have messed up the BIOS

      Jeanbi,

I have updated a lot of things and I only restarted once at the end of all the updates.
Do you think the PC is dead? How can I make it work? Thank you.

    Hello,

But the subject is now a bit old, but I have exactly the same problem as JC57, so I wanted to know if you finally managed to save your computer, and how? Because I haven't succeeded with the provided "techniques."
I never do updates anymore :@

    thanks in advance

The problem is that you posted in a resolved thread. If the goal is to restore your EeePC and the previous link doesn't work, the best thing is simply to look for another tutorial using Google, for example:

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. I searched extensively on Google (forums) for a solution to this problem and found nothing. There is just this forum where someone managed to resolve their issue, and I would like to know how they did it.

And where can I find the solution to the problem? It was on that famous site, but there’s nothing there anymore.

    Any light?

I have no doubt that you searched, but I think you're more likely to get a response on the forum by opening a new thread, even if you reference this one and re-explain your problem from the beginning, what you have already done, etc.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who might have the answer; on the forum, they see activity in this resolved thread, and there's little chance they'll check what’s being discussed there...
