Microsoft Access ODBC Driver 64-bit Solved/Closed

Question

Hello everyone,

I have a PC running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and I programmed a JAVA application that needs to access a Microsoft Access database.
My problem is that when I try to add my database using the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator tool, I encounter an error message. It’s rather "normal" since the only ODBC drivers installed on my machine are for SQL Server.
Therefore, I have been looking for a 64-bit Access ODBC driver for quite some time but I can't find one.
Where can I find it? Does it simply not exist? If that's the case, how can I proceed?

Apparently, you need to use the ODBC Data Source Administrator utility for 32-bit; to run it: c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe

Hello everyone,
I have the same setup as you. Windows 7, IIS, and an ASP site with an Access database. I found the ODBC management under system32 where I can see the drivers, but... I'm still at the same point. Did you add any driver or perform any special action?
The error I get when I run IIS is the same as yours. The string

set Conn = Server.Createobject("ADODB.Connection")
ConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="& Server.Mappath("db.mdb")

gives me an error (provider absent...)

Hi, sorry for this message, I know it's not the right place to ask the question, but if you're still online, you can reply if you know the answer. I've created a database that generates invoices in Access 2007, and I want the invoice number to be in the format year+month+sequence (resetting at the beginning of each month).
Please, if you can help me, it's urgent ^^

To compile in 32 bits: Project properties -> "Compiler" tab -> click on the "Advanced compilation options" button -> Change "Target platform" to "x86" -> Re-compile  It should normally work (VS 2008)

Microsoft offers a beta solution for the 64-bit Access ODBC driver:

...and it works! (ODBC connection call from a Perl script using the 64-bit version of Perl).

Hi, I have the same problem actually I tried to check the configuration but apparently I'm compiling correctly with the x86 version.

EDIT: I found the answer:
The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder.

Hi   I had the same problem, and I found a solution to fix it: Start --> Run --> cmd and type the following command: c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe  That's all

You need to take odbc 32.exe and configure the system data source instead of the user data source. If you go to odbc 64 DSN system, you won't find what you did with 32 compared to using 32 user DSN. ODBC 32 is located in syswow32.

It's pretty pathetic that Microsoft is unable to provide the 64-bit ODBC driver for Access in Windows...
We're forced to do everything in 32-bit while we have a 64-bit OS, a 64-bit application, and a 64-bit database... but the driver doesn't exist!

This topic is a bit old, but for your information,
on a 64-bit PC, Office installs in the 32-bit folder (if Office is 32-bit) and thus, the folder name is Program Files (x86). However, Oracle cannot return data to a folder whose name contains parentheses.
The only solution is either to rename the folder or to reinstall Office in a folder without parentheses.
