Regional code problem for The Sims 3 expansion

Hello everyone

here is the procedure to follow to fix this problem. No danger, there’s just a single digit to change

- Open the registry (Start menu, search or Run) type regedit
- click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- click on SOFTWARE
- then click on Sims and Sims 3
- In the right-hand column, click SKU and in the window that opens, in the Value data field, set the number 2 and click OK

and there you go, you can now install DA

I hope you don’t resell it ^^

For those on Windows 7, the path would be more like:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\Sims\The Sims 3\

I just fixed my problem: in SKU (which was at 2 before) I changed the value data to set it to 1, and on top of making my game work (which was in English at first) it became French again lol :P

I’m Quebecoise and I bought The Sims 3 in Quebec in English and there I bought The Sims 3 World Adventures in Quebec in French.
Like everyone, I can’t install it, it says regional code error. But the problem is that I’m trying to do what you said about changing the SKU, instead of 1 put 2 but when I go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Sims\The Sims 3 in the right column I only see one file called (Default) and next to it in Type it says REG_SZ and that’s all... I don’t see any SKU or whatever... I don’t understand what to do at this moment... Can someone explain please? That would be kind because I’m trying a lot of things, it’s been 4 hours and I can’t :p Thanks for your help, see you later :)

I find skuversion by typing search on the computer. But I don’t know what to modify.
Gameversion = 1.0.631.00001
Code : 0. DL-0.0.11195
Asset :1. Thumbnail.dl.933
TCC:1.TCC.dl.1209
CiderVersion#002432
That’s what is written. I bought the expansion in France, but The Sims 3 online.

Otherwise it still doesn’t work for me, just crap.

Otherwise I had lost my code because of my little brothers and I had uninstalled it. I simply called EA Games, they asked for my email and everything and now it works, although now that I no longer have the regional code problem they tell me it’s incompatible :(

Sanraya I have the same problem as Paul30126. I did what you said but the value data in SKU is already at 2 and it still doesn’t work... Please help me :S

Hello, I also have the same problem as Roxynou and Mawill14. I can’t find the sims directory. Actually, I do find it, but in the class directory and there I can’t find SKU. I have a small theory that the directories aren’t parallel. Could it be because I’m using Windows 7 while Paul30126 said he was on Vista.

I have exactly the same problem and I did all the steps listed, but every time I click on SKU... when I open the window that appears... the number is already at two... so I erase it and rewrite it but when I click OK a message is sent to me saying: Impossible to modify SKU: error writing the new value content.
How do I do then? =S

My boyfriend bought The Sims 3 before its European release, so online in America, so now I have Destination Adventure that I can’t install. I’ve done everything they said, changed the region codes three thousand times (no joke I’ve tried up to four) and when I do the manipulation it says everything is ok, and at the moment of loading the game in the game launcher, it shows in the bottom left that I installed Destination Adventure, but when I launch the game it says it’s impossible, so I don’t even know how to play without it, so I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled everything three times, it’s been almost a year that this goes on, it’s pretty annoying....
So if anyone had the same problem and found the solution
ps: I’m on Windows 7 64-bit.
