The Sims 3 error code 16

Elio -

Hello,

In The Sims 3, I've had a game for a long time and now when I try to save it, it says:
"Error code 16, please read the readme file"

I would like to know if anyone has a solution?

Thank you in advance.

Hey everyone!! I don’t know about you, but I’m really into The Sims 3 and I played all day today, and a couple of hours ago it struck me like it did for you, Elio, so I kept looking for a solution and I finally found it. Actually, you need to go to "Save As" (no need to change the name of the game) and it should save normally. If you want to quit, go to "Quit" (XD obviously), but don’t save because that won’t work either. Just click on quit and there you go!! I hope I was able to help you a bit. If it doesn’t work for you, I’m really sorry for giving you false hope T_T because when you’ve played for a long time and can’t save, having to start over is enough to drive you crazy!! Thanks for reading the long story I just wrote (I didn’t think it would be so long XS) Ciao and good luck for what’s next!!

me too! but not long ago, I found a technique: you shouldn’t take videos, be at speed 1, make sure your sim does nothing, has nothing to do, thinks about nothing, that you are in front of him or her, and that you cross your fingers! XD but now, it doesn't work anymore ..... DX

    Hi :D
I had the same problem, that is, the error message "error code 16 please read the readme file" just 2 minutes ago,
but I simply tried again and it worked like that, I no longer had the error message and it saved. How that happened, I don't know, mystery xD

For Cortze, you might want to save your backups elsewhere on your PC, then uninstall the game, then reinstall it and put your backups back in. I don't know if that will work but I sincerely hope it does.

    Hugs to everyone
    And happy gaming =)

To recover your game (if you're using Windows 7 because I'm not sure if it works with older versions), go to the folder where The Sims 3 saves are stored (usually: C:\Users\User( or your name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves). Right-click on your save (which appears twice, with the .sims3 and .sims3.backup extensions), follow the steps I'm going to describe with both files, right-click on the file, properties, previous versions, wait a bit and click on the first file. At the bottom, you can now click on "copy..." and select the Sims 3 save folder. Then restart your game and you should find your game at the second to last save.

Feel free to ask if you need help.
    Have fun playing. ;)

      Hello!
If I'm not mistaken, this is for the error code 12...^^
      And that means:
      SaveName.sims3.backup
      SaveName.sims3
      SaveName.bad

You need to delete the ".Sims3" and the ".bad," and rename the ".sims3.backup" to ".sims3."
Otherwise, everything else is fine. ;)

      If it's another technique...Well, I didn't understand anything..^^"

Hi, I had the same! Error 16, except that a little while after me it cut off and sent me back to the desktop... nothing serious you might say... except that when I restart the game and get to the loading level, my save is like dotted if I can put it that way, I click on it and it loads... and and and... nothing, if it’s an error message 16 during loading, restart the application... and still nothing, it doesn’t work... no way to access my save... can anyone help me???
