Laptop screen issue

Hello,
I just bought a second-hand HP Pavilion 9500 laptop.
It worked for 2 days and since then the screen won’t turn on. The battery doesn’t seem to hold a charge; but even on mains power nothing happens.
My question is to know if the failure is serious and how much it could cost.

    I just did the tweak, still nothing, but the main unit works; it’s just the screen that’s faulty.

    turn it off and wait a moment before turning it back on
