Hello,
I just signed up on the site, before there was always someone who had my problem... not this time.
So here it is, I bought a Sony TV (KDL-32S5500) at the end of August at Fnac, and for the past 3 days, whenever I switch to channel 9, the picture doesn’t show, only the banner with "W9 and the current program" appears, and the TV becomes unresponsive, even when I try to turn it off using the button; after a minute or two, the TV turns off and then back on again, still on channel 9, and everything works as if nothing happened. Obviously, if I change the channel and come back to 9, the same issue occurs; twice it hasn’t restarted either with the button or the remote, so I unplugged and plugged it back in. This morning, I went to the Fnac customer service and the guy told me, "the DTT can be tricky, it’s a reception issue."
I feel like he’s taking me for a fool... anyway, does anyone have any idea what’s going on with my TV?

If you have reception problems, W9 and M6 are on the same channel and I believe NT1 is too.
With a Sony, set it to W9, then menu, settings, at the bottom DTV and go to technical settings, check if it's orange, yellow, or green; if it's not "green", the reception is too weak. -
Hello, if I may give my opinion, I've noticed from the broadcaster and the channels that "freeze" randomly are M6, W9, and TF1, the only ones with an unstable signal, and coincidentally, I have a Sony KDL 32, but the same issue occurs on a second TV.

Hello, it's true that it can be tricky, but in no way can a reception problem turn the TV on and off or cause the issues you describe. After all, I should know as much as you do :-)) But I think he thinks you’re a bit of a fool, yes.
In any case, what is sure is that if I were in your place, I would quickly get the TV changed or I would find someone in customer service who is slightly more professional, or I would force the last one to be a bit more professional!!! :-)) Anyway, I won't stop there!! Good luck to you... -
Take it back to Fnac and have it changed; if they don't agree, you can make a scene. I saw that at Darty, it works.

I had the same problem too, with a relay antenna 6 km away in a straight line, visible to the naked eye from my roof, yet to have a good reception I switched to the main transmitter Niort-Maisonnay. According to a map that gil had provided on this forum (and that I can’t find anymore), I’m in a sort of "dead zone" for reception.
We should ask gil for that famous link to the coverage map. -
No, there are only channels 9, 6, and TF1 that work directly. My signal on W9 is actually good, and when it reboots (on W9), the picture is no longer fluid and clear. That’s why I doubt it’s a reception problem. Additionally, the fact that someone else has this problem reassures me a little despite everything ^^
I’m going back to Fnac on Monday; I’ll keep you updated. -

We just contacted Carrefour and then Sony for the same issue. They tell us that the problem was resolved yesterday (manipulation via radio waves). Anyway, we will check again tonight, and if it continues, there will be a manipulation to do directly on the TV through the menu with the remote control and with the technician on the other end of the line.

Here is the response from Sony
I will try this evening
Hello,
I am pleased to confirm the resolution of the problem you were experiencing with your Sony KDL-32S5500 television.
I invite you to reactivate the automatic system update from your television's menu.
To do this, please follow these steps:
- Go to "Menu" via the "HOME" button
- Select "Settings"
- Scroll down to the "Digital Settings" option
- Select "Digital Channel Settings"
- Choose "Yes" for the "System Update" option
- Turn off the TV and then turn it back on using the Power button located on the television
Thank you for trusting Sony products.

Sorry for the delay, I didn't have time to go to Fnac before Saturday (nor to watch much TV ^^) so I went there, I came across another customer service guy, much more involved than the first one, and I managed to get a direct line to Sony regarding issues that don't start with "0892": 01 49 78 78 40, so we'll see tonight, and otherwise I think the number could be useful.

Thank you, I am at home.
First of all, I don't have a home button, so I go through the MENU button. The problem is, when I get to "digital channel settings," there is no "system update." You actually have to go to "technical configuration" ... BUT "system update" is already set to yes ... however, the TV did not freeze when I switched to W9 ... Is the problem solved? To be confirmed in the coming days! Thank you all anyway.
