Can we use a Canal Sat satellite dish?

Hello,
Can someone tell me if it's possible to use a Canal Sat satellite dish to receive free French and foreign channels?
If so, what satellite receiver would I need, and which satellite should I aim for, maybe "Astra"?
Keep in mind that I am no longer subscribed to Canal Sat and no longer have a terminal.
Thanks to everyone who can advise me.
Best regards, Claude
Configuration: Windows XP

Your antenna is of what nature, flat with integrated LNB, or is it a classic dish with an LNB at the end of a arm?

      Hello Stewartia
My satellite dish is classic with a universal LNB at the end of the arm

Your parabola is of the universal type (I will outline), basically, you can receive any satellite. You were with CanalSat, and well if you don't change anything, you will receive TNTSat: Satellite Astra 19.2° East. You have the Fransat offer, on AtlanticBird 3 at 5° West.
Now, it would be a matter of knowing if you want to receive the free TNT channels in HD or not. Do you have a budget to propose, do you need to record and on what medium? Depending on certain criteria, although the satellite reception offer in France is rather limited, and the majority of the equipment is of mediocre quality, there is a "window" to have something not too bad.

      Hello Stewartia
Okay, so without changing anything I have TNTSAT
Yes, for now I want the free channels, you tell me "in HD OR NOT," I think HD is better, but is there a downside with the satellite dish?
I don't quite understand what you mean when you talk about "budget, recording and support"
      Sorry for my misunderstanding
      Thank you

      Hello Stewartia
Okay, I understand everything now. It takes me some time, but now it's very clear. I will take a little look at what I want to buy, whether it's now or later, as you said, to see my budget a bit. In any case, I thank you very much for all your explanations and your patience.
If I have any problems, can I still contact you?
Thank you very much and maybe see you soon

      Thank you

      Best regards, Claude

A regular dish with its universal head is not specifically Canalsat or Canal or Bis TV or Fransat or Tntsat or TV Orange, it is compatible with all channels, all packages, all satellites, Astra 1, or HotBird or Atlantic Bird 3 .......

Then, where it gets complicated is when it comes to making the right choice in terms of satellite digital demodulator, because depending on the chosen category, the final result can be far from the same:

If Astra 1 (exclusively) TNTSAT Canal Ready: http://www.commentcamarche.net/...

If Atlantic Bird, at least, + even other satellites (e.g. Hot Bird and Astra 1)

(there is the tri-head dish for this case)

      Hi Gil,
There is the flat Canal dish with a single polarization, that's why I was asking the question; in this case, it needs to be changed. For the decoder, the Aston Simba HD Fransat on AB3 is definitely the best solution, as it has two card readers unlike the TNTSat model which has only one reader, occupied by the linked card.

      Hello Gil
So with my classic dish and universal LNB, on Astra I can receive TNT channels, TF1? LA2 F3 and LA6? with a "TNTSAT" receiver
      THANK YOU
      Best regards Claude

At Canal +, there is no single-polarization parabola, but there used to be a single-polarization flat antenna (Neovia V100) that is no longer manufactured, but is still sold, or rather dumped, seen at €60.

Attention, you do not differentiate between satellite antennas of the parabolic type, i.e. concave, and flat-plate antennas. Moreover, and above all, it is not at all the same collection technology.

It's the question asked above but simpler; there are still some near me.
