Audio-Video Sync Issue on Multimedia Hard Drive

Hello,
While some of my videos play perfectly on my PC, when viewed from my multimedia hard drive in the living room, I sometimes experience a sync issue between audio and video on certain ones.
Can someone explain precisely what this is due to? And is there a way to remedy it?

Thanks
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

The least you can say is that the responses are pouring in!!

Okay, I'll add another layer: the observed delay is not consistent! Let me explain: the film is sometimes out of sync, but sometimes not!!! So??????? Any ideas?

Personally, I use MediaCoder, but there are many software options available

Thank you for your help. And on top of that, it comes at just the right time; I already had MediaCoder but I had never used it.
Now I know what to do with it.
A big thank you.

See you later!

VirtualDub allows you to adjust the audio/video sync, but in my case, my videos are not out of sync on the PC; they are out of sync once on the multimedia hard drive!

I have exactly the same problem.
On the PC, there's not a single issue, but on the TV, it gets out of sync.
So VirtualDub works when it wants to because it can't handle all formats, including AVI I believe.
Otherwise, the only solution I've found, and it's really lame: is to rewind and that works.
When the movie slows down but the sound doesn't, I rewind and speed up the part that "freezes or slows down" and it lasts as long as it lasts.

Download Format Factory and convert to VOB, it works great ;-)

For me, it's the same and it's starting to get on my nerves. I've looked on about ten forums and I don't have the answer. I tried VirtualDub but it doesn't do anything.

I tend to think that the DDMM processor is not fast enough.
Try with videos that have a lower bitrate.

Why not. Encoding at a lower quality might be the solution.

After a little check on a series where some episodes have issues.
So the episodes at 131kbps work fine, those at 136kbps start to have problems.

Paradoxically, I have a movie at 128 that has issues from the get-go.....

However, I don't understand how such a small difference can lead to such a result.
And two, how to solve this?

may be just an issue with codecs not supported by the multimedia hard drive?

Typically, stuttering is a problem related to the real-time video signal generation time. If the signal is generated, even if it is stuttering, it means that the player knows the codec used.

Yes, indeed, it's the video that's lagging. The sound remains at the right speed.
If it’s due to the signal generation time, I need to plug the hard drive directly into a nuclear power plant. 220,000 volts up the backside should straighten it out, I think...
But seriously, how do I fix this?

To reduce stuttering, you need to lower the video bitrate.

Ok but how and with what?

So, does anyone have an idea to solve this nasty problem ????????
