Slideshow on second screen

Hello,

I am using Windows XP with Office 2007.

I created a slideshow with PowerPoint 2007 that I want to display in a loop on a second screen connected to my PC.

It works very well when the active tab is that of the slideshow. However, as soon as I start working with another program (on the first screen), it freezes. It only resumes when I click on its tab in the taskbar.

Isn't there a way to keep it running even in the background?

Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.5.3

I did tests in that sense and my slideshow was looping endlessly...
I don't know what more to tell you...

    Hello

Well, I have a slideshow running on my second screen for at least 2 hours, I'm going to stop it because I'm getting bored! ;)
In the meantime, I've been working on various versions of Word and Excel, I've been browsing the Internet, and without my slideshow weakening.

I guess this won't help you much... but that's the observation!

Hello, this is probably configurable but I don't know how; you can use another program for broadcasting instead, like live for example, that works for sure.

Thank you, but I already have a complete slideshow in PowerPoint. Unless absolutely necessary, I would prefer to keep it and not have to start something else...

Otherwise, I don't know the Live program. When I type live or even live streaming into Google, you can imagine the number of results!

I would like to follow up on the question as I still haven't found a solution!

Let me explain the situation again:

I have installed a PC at work equipped with an ATI graphics card that supports dual displays. This PC has one screen directed towards a coworker who works at the reception (Identified as No. 1 and connected to the VGA port) and another screen connected to the DVI port (identified as No. 2) directed towards the waiting room.

This reception PC is configured for multiple displays (extended desktop)

I can perfectly launch a PowerPoint presentation from the reception screen to the waiting room screen in full screen (ppt > slideshow > slideshow settings > show on secondary monitor) and it runs smoothly. However, as soon as I bring another software into the foreground on the reception screen, the PowerPoint freezes on the waiting room screen (it stops scrolling and will only resume when I bring PowerPoint back to the foreground on the reception screen).

Is there a solution? And what is it?

    Hello,

In principle, if you use Presenter mode, it should work. (Slide Show tab, Monitors group).

    And no :(

Indeed, sometimes it broadcasts a few pages but never for very long...

I should note that it's not always the same page that gets blocked and I don't do anything special or different between the moments when it works or doesn't (for example, I start the slideshow, open Firefox, and don't touch anything else. It works for 2 minutes then it's blocked. I restart exactly the same way, it immediately blocks when I exit presenter mode. If I try a 3rd time, it might work for 30 seconds. It's very random).

It's almost as if Windows just takes longer to realize that the slideshow is not in the foreground! Grrr

I'm ultimately open to any suggestions (even changing software) if it's easy to use.

By any chance, does the fact that the slideshow was largely created in Office 2000 before being finalized (and distributed) with Office 2007 change anything?

No, I don't see at all what that could change...

Not me either, it was in case...

Do you know if there's a way to do the same thing with Open Office? I might not encounter this issue?

Sorry, I never tested it with OOo...

I will take a closer look with PPT2007 this weekend.

Thank you very much for your help!!!

It might be something small that is causing a conflict on this PC, but what??? I will try to run the slideshow from my personal PC, but we still need to find another solution!

Do you have any idea what I should look for that could be causing this potential conflict??
