Sharp bd-hp21s dvd player issue

Hello,
I have a Sharp BD-HP21S Blu-ray player and there are certain Blu-ray DVDs that have difficulty starting, including one titled "Max Payne" which doesn't play at all. Could this be due to a defect in the device?

    To everyone: The method communicated by Pascal196749 does not work if we update via CD because the version available on the site is older (1.19). Apparently, only version 1.26, available for update via USB, works...

    I have the same issue with my HP 20s calculator, but apparently there is no solution. I contacted Sharp and they gave me an update, but nothing works; Max Payne still doesn't run.

    Hello,

    I just bought AVATAR and I can't play it.........the bd-hp21s refuses to read it, even though the disc works perfectly on other Blu-ray players!!
    After checking the SHARP.FR website, there are no updates!! even worse, it can't find the bd-hp21s!!
    I'm super disappointed with this equipment, and now I plan to change it, that's it!

    Hello everyone, I have the solution for the Sharp BD HP 21S player. You need to call Sharp's customer service and ask for the update site; they will give it to you along with all the steps to install the update. After that, the Avatar Blu-ray works very well, but the only small issue is that after 30 minutes of playback, the image stutters. So I don't know if this issue comes from the player or the disc, and I'm also unsure if the recent update is not very well done. If anyone could check and reply, that would be great and would help me out. Don't be hard on the Sharp player; it's one of the best on the market after the Sony range.

    In response to your request, we have made available a folder for updating your BluRay player:

    1° Go to the FTP server by typing: "ftp://ftp.techcity.fr/" in your browser
    Note: this address should be entered in the address bar of your browser, without "www." or "http://" in front. You should not perform a search but enter this address as a website address (for example: https://www.sharp.fr/fr is the website address for Sharp).

    2° It will ask you to log in with the following information: login: "sharp" and password: "sharp2009".

    3° You just need to open the folder "Maj.Blu.Ray".

    To all those who had problems with AVATAR like me: download version 1.26 on a USB stick (do not put the file in a folder, it should be alone on the stick). Plug the stick into the designated port at the back. Turn on your player. Go to settings and perform an update. It takes a few minutes, and the screen shows the progress.
    But that's not enough (it still didn't work for me); you then need to reset the system. This does not erase the update, and Avatar can finally be played.

    I brought my Blu-ray player to where I bought it, and they gave me a free update, and since then, no more issues. But still, Sharp TVs are great for Blu-ray, not good.
