Advice for used cars
Here is a list of essential checks to make before purchasing a used vehicle from a private seller. You can print it out and check off the boxes as you go along.

The technical inspection report, which must be less than 6 months old for vehicles over 4 years old.
The maintenance booklet
Maintenance invoices
How long he has owned this vehicle, if it's a first-hand car.
His reasons for selling
The condition of the timing belt (it should be changed approximately every 80,000 km, otherwise it can severely damage the engine).

Walk around the car and inspect the bodywork for dents, scratches, and color differences indicating a repaint.
Open the hood, listen to the engine to check that it runs smoothly.
With the engine off, check the oil and coolant levels. (Low oil can indicate oil consumption or a simple leak, while low coolant can signal abnormal engine temperature rise, which can have very serious consequences).
Look at the chassis and wheel arches for any signs of deformation or color differences that may indicate frame straightening after an accident.
Open the trunk, lift the floor mat, and check the condition of the floor, which should show no deformation or signs of repairs due to a significant impact.

Blue smoke: indicates engine wear leading to oil consumption.
White smoke: If it persists well after starting, it indicates moisture in the combustion chamber due to a worn head gasket. However, white smoke on startup in winter is perfectly normal.
Black smoke: less severe than the others as it is due to poor tuning or engine clogging that resolves after a few kilometers.

Ensure the operation of electrical components such as: power windows, central locking, ventilation, lighting, radio, wipers...
Check the condition of the seats, floor, pedals, and steering wheel (their condition can be indicative of the actual mileage of the car).
Verify the alignment of the odometer numbers. Compare the mileage on the odometer with the oil change stickers placed near the engine.

Very big scam, offer them a certified check but only after a thorough inspection and trial of the car... You will see, they won't respond to you ;)

So every time you're offered cash, REFUSE!!!!

Hello, indeed a big scam, 1 hour before the so-called delivery, a call from the delivery driver asking for a bank transfer, I threatened to provide his phone number but he didn't seem intimidated, it's once again that gang of crooks trying to extort money without ever delivering anything. So beware again of these sellers who offer cheap products and who are supposedly gone to Africa for some ridiculous reason with a delivery person in France asking for a transfer... As soon as a seller asks you to fill out a so-called form for their delivery person and asks you to make a transfer mandate, do nothing and run away; it’s theft. As soon as the seller is partly in Africa or elsewhere (for work, marriage, sick children...), just forget it; it’s to rip you off, and you will never receive the delivery.
