Movie Maker is pretty good when it doesn't crash. I've been trying since this morning to edit a small video, barely 1 minute long.
Hello,
Like many of you, I have a problem! Well, I need to change the direction of a video so that I can position it correctly in a video edit, but I don't know how to do it. So if someone has the solution...
Thank you in advance.

The solution is called Virtual Dub.

I have a problem with Movie Maker: apparently, the format of my videos is not suitable (I can only play them with Real Player, file type 3GP)
I'm really not very knowledgeable about this, so if someone could enlighten me on this subject ^^
Thank you, and have a great day!!!

You need to convert your file to AVI or WMV format (for example).
Read my posts on conversion (there's another one that complements it two messages below).

Hello,
PowerDirector v6 or v5 is really great, it costs, uh, I think 80 €, or there's a free demo for 1 month, and it does everything. I'm extremely satisfied with it.

Hello,
after reviewing your exchanges, I believe I will opt for the purchase of Magix Video Deluxe 2007 or 2008, Plus version or not, that’s to be determined (what's the difference?): it seems, from what you've said, to be more stable (fewer bugs) than Pinnacle, and also seems to require a less powerful computer (see below). (I’m not even talking about the others, Adobe Premiere or Avid Xpress, too expensive, too heavy, too complex for a beginner)
I need to edit films shot with a miniDV camcorder, from which I want to retain the uncompressed quality of the images in the edit; I will sometimes use the original rushes' soundtrack, or incorporate audio reports that I have recorded with a minidisc recorder in linear PCM format, from which I also want to maintain the uncompressed quality of the sound. (these edits, not necessarily very long, are intended to be shown in exhibitions)
Can those who use Magix tell me if this seems possible with this software?
Furthermore, my computer is not very powerful: 512 MB of RAM (which I am doubling), Athlon 64 processor, 120 GB hard drive, ATI Radeon graphics card, all running on Windows XP Home Edition. Does anyone have comparison points to tell me if this is sufficient for the software to work properly?
Thank you

Good evening,
as for me, I'm still using Pinnacle Studio 8 but I'm waiting for Christmas to switch to Magic Video Deluxe 2007 or 8.
I'm using a Sony VAIO PCV RX512 with an Athlon 64 2400+ processor (1.9GHz) and 1GB of RAM, and it works just fine. I've never had a crash. The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce 4 TI 4200 with 64MB of RAM and I'm monitoring it on a 17" Sony screen connected via DVI. All of this since 2002... without any failure....
good luck

Hello,
as part of my studies, I need to create a video that consists of two side-by-side videos, each with a stopwatch in one corner, and the ability to speed one up relative to the other so that both videos finish at the same time. Basically, I need to show that one tool saves time compared to the other, hence the two videos side by side.
I'm therefore looking for editing software that would allow me to create this montage with different effects (speeding up one video, placing two videos side by side, adding stopwatches, and adding text to the videos). A free software would be great, but otherwise, I can spend a little from my piggy bank.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hello,
I have the software Windows Movie Maker
I would like to do video editing but I don't know how to use it.
Otherwise, I would like a free software where we can do video editing from a DVD movie or videos from the internet
Thank you in advance.

<ba>Well, I'm also looking for a software like this but free, so if anyone knows of one, that would be great!! BUT FREE would be cool, thanks in advance :)</ba>
I downloaded it but I don't understand anything!! Meh meh what a software!! Plus, all the ones I download are free but only for a certain time so yeah!! If someone has one IN FRENCH that is FREE, which is probably rare lol then let me know!! And it has to be good!! lol the big bother anyway thanks in advance
Unfortunately, free options for real quality editing don't exist. Virtualdub has a somewhat austere interface, but it allows you to edit videos, apply filters, effects, and re-encode, and for that, it is the only free software that provides so many features. For editing, you need to go with paid solutions: the winning trio is Photoshop/Premiere/After Effects. Those who want to use Movie Maker will remain at the DIY stage with bad effects.

But at the same time, clarify what you mean by that.
