Hello,
I have a Freebox wifi, a PC connected via cable, and a laptop that I want to connect via WIFI. My router has been configured on the Free website. Everything is fine with the PC, but with my laptop, I have the following problem: it recognizes all available connections, including the "FreeWifi" connection that works very well, but when I try to connect it to the Freebox, I always get the same message: "Unable to connect to 'freeboxmarc. Authentication failed due to a timeout."
I read the messages on this forum regarding this issue, particularly those from Bouzie and So (August 2008), followed their advice, but the problem persists. By copying the MAC address of my laptop onto the Free router configuration page, the connection was established, but I was told there was an IP address conflict: "2 computers have the same IP address. Contact the administrator." In my other attempts, I switched from channel 11 to channel 4, no change. I reconfigured my key to WPA TKIP, no change.
I don't know if this could be related, but the problem appeared following a reconfiguration of "homeplayer" which was also bugging after the router was activated. Since then, homeplayer is working again, but I lost my wifi connection...
If anyone has an idea.... Thank you for your help

Hi Marc,
I happened to pass by and just this afternoon I saw this issue.
If it can help you.
» WiFi Configuration. Key points and mistakes to avoid
1. The password must be different from your WiFi network!
2. Try to choose a channel other than 11 if you are in a dense area
3. Prefer a WPA key if possible
4. If you have a PC connected via USB or Ethernet (or 2 computers via WiFi), remember to enable router mode !
