WHICH FILE TO CHOOSE TO SEND A DOCUMENT

Hello,
I'm trying to send a document (installation guide for the hot water tank) to my brother, but since
it’s saved in an MHT folder, he can't open it.
What file format should I generally save my documents in, and how should I proceed?
Do I need to download a program?
I know it's the basics of computing, but I admit I have some gaps in that area.

    as "pdf"
