Emule: Unable to connect to 1 server

eMule works very well with Vista!!!
Make a server update as explained above, then go to the forum for your port configuration!

I agree that it's a bit complicated to start with the configuration settings for those who are not very familiar with their PC!
That said, there are tons of solutions to achieve an optimal connection (on Vista as well)...
The forum exists for that, and the "helpers" are all volunteers! So they have nothing to gain other than the satisfaction of helping others...

To update the servers:
1) In the preferences tab, go to server... change value number 1 to 5...
Then check boxes 1, 4, and 5...
Click on "edit", the notepad will open... enter this inside: http://serveurs.emule-french.org...
Click at the top on file, save then close... (don’t forget to save!!!)
Now go to the server tab at the top of the screen, select any server from the list, right-click and select delete all servers... turn off eMule then restart it...
The server update will occur automatically at startup!
You should only have 30!
If you have a problem, right-click and run eMule as administrator... it may help!

INFORMATION: eMule is a free, open-source, and legal software. Some dishonest websites might ask you to pay to obtain this software. These practices, apart from being scams, may lead you to have a buggy mule and/or limited performance. If you are in this situation, you should uninstall it and download the proper free version of the installer here: http://download.emule-french.org/
If it’s not this one, you might encounter issues, so uninstall it (just remember to back up your incoming folder, or rename it so you don’t lose your already completed downloads...)
It is very important to have this version, as you risk having server or configuration problems...

eMule is almost INCOMPATIBLE with Vista; I managed to get it working on Vista once without knowing how I did it, but I recommend downloading your laptop's drivers for XP and installing XP.

I confirm, Emule works on W. Vista. I installed it on my desktop PC. It works perfectly well.

As a student in BTS Computer Maintenance & Networks (MRI), I zigzag among friends to resolve this issue, and the results always remain the same; people reinstall XP and are very happy with it. Sure, you can install eMule on Vista, but you need to be patient enough to make it work! You'd spend less time installing XP than trying to figure out how to get eMule to run well on Vista.

Vista means: updating the KAD server, downloading the notes.dat file, configuring the Vista admin....

XP means: install and it's done; everything works perfectly.
