Hello,
I received this equipment, I wanted to convert my slides. Everything seems to be going normally but nothing is happening: no photo. What should I do?

HELLO. I was stuck at the step before image capture for a while. I had the idea to go through the control panel, scanner and other devices, and there I found an assistant that allowed me to capture negatives.

I also have the same problem with the VistaQuest FS 500 slide scanner.
It's impossible to select the line in the dialog box for device selection; it's inactive, even when going through the control panel.
I have the impression that this problem is recurrent for this device..
Thank you for your help.- If you get stuck (which happened to me during my first attempts), it's because you're using "Acquire from a photo scanner". You need to use "acquire from a film scanner" (3rd line of the dropdown menu).
That should get you unstuck. Once there, be careful not to use "48-bit color depth" as that will lock you into the TIFF format, resulting in gigantic files. Also, watch out: if your computer doesn't have much memory, it's very slow. It works, but it's incredibly long. Once you have the view, do "snapshot", then "transfer".
For negatives, it's the "transfer" action that reverses them.
And to get a correct result, the photos really need to be very good.

Hello,
With the ArcSoft software, nothing happens. And particularly, the "calibrate" action described in the manual does not appear. It is likely that the poor quality of the results - see below - is related to this absence.
I went through "My Computer" and double-clicked "OVT Scanner". In the window, my photo appears. To scan, you have to click "take a new photo" in the top left. It takes a good while, then a file "image001" appears at the bottom of the screen. You can then transfer it to a folder by using the "drag and drop" technique.
But, for goodness' sake, it's so slow! And the photos are of atrocious quality, very washed out. Not really usable.
I still haven't figured out what the "copy" button on the top of the device is for.
My children, who gave me this thing yesterday, were really misled.
Definitely worth a wide detour!!!

There are definitely tips for installing this hardware; my son managed to do it on his laptop but not on mine. Bethel found a solution; there must be others.

For those who have Windows Vista, you need to go to Device Manager, Camera images or Scanner camera, and download the driver and that's it! I am really happy that it finally works after a month of trying...

No more issues with the slides, but I can't convert my negatives
have you found anything on your side?-
Negatives are scanned exactly like positives. But then you need an image processing program that can invert the colors. I have one called MGI Photosuite, for 10 years now. It's impossible to find the function that would work well in the ArcSoft software that came with this mess.
But since the scan result is poor, the result after inverting the colors is of very bad quality. -

Hello,
I also acquired this scanner
After pulling my hair out for 2 hours on my personal computer, I installed it on my professional computer which is much more recent.
In fact, for it to work, it needs a minimum of 240 bandwidth, so you have to unplug as many USB ports as possible ... and still ...
I haven't installed the Photo Impression software since I have Corel and Photoshop
The only downside is that I can't see where to configure it and the output is much too contrasted. -

If you get stuck (which happened to me on my first attempts), it’s because you’re using “Acquire from a photo scanner.” You need to use “acquire from a film scanner” (3rd line of the drop-down menu).
That should unblock you. Once there, be careful not to use “48-bit color depth” which will lock you into the TIFF format, resulting in gigantic files. Also, be aware: if your computer doesn’t have much memory, it’s very slow. It works, but it’s painfully long. Once you have the view, do “snapshot” and then “transfer.”
For negatives, it’s the “transfer” action that flips them.
And to get a correct result, the photos really need to be very good.

After loading the drivers, etc....
You load PICASA and there's no problem. It works very well.
Best regards -
Hello,
Having had the same blockage, I finally called Vistaquest's customer service (0892697077, 0.34 per minute!) and Laurent helped me to configure the OVT scanner. It's practically impossible for a novice to do it alone. It's a bit pricey (15 minutes) but now everything is fine!... -
Hello, I see that many of you have the "Vistaquest FS-500-1".
I just received this equipment, unfortunately, the drivers installed on the CD-ROM provided with the equipment have a problem. Whether on
Windows XP or Vista, the same message: Invalid INF file. Windows cannot install your hardware. Would anyone be kind enough to send me the valid driver so I can install my equipment or provide me with a link to download the drivers for this film scanner?
Thank you in advance. -
Good evening, I am looking for the software to operate the FS501. If someone could send it to me, please call 0474032856
Thank you
