Hello everyone

"the system administrator has configured your system policy to prohibit this installation"

I'm desperately trying to install "alcohol 120"
it's the only program that refuses to install and generates this blocking message

I am set as an administrator and the guest account is inactive

This problem may occur if the Windows Installer service is disabled.

Check that Windows Installer is running in the services.

If it is, run gpedit.msc and then in
Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Installer, check that Windows Installer is not disabled.

Hello, nice!
I'm the administrator... I'm on a single workstation with no other profiles defined.
All the other software installs fine.
So the problem is probably elsewhere, maybe a protection somewhere that's causing the install to fail???

Unable to install Norton Antivirus even though I am the administrator on this PC (which is indeed alone, with no other
PC connected, and no other administrator but me). I have this problem after reinstalling Windows XP.

Hi

You should check, by editing the rights, that Administrator is allowed to "install"

In general, you should check all the rights assigned at this level, and also see if when reinstalling, you are still recognized as an administrator.

I also have the same problem as you with Alcohol 120, but for me the issue occurred after a manual installation of Windows XP Pro SP2 using an unattended setup. However, the problem only arises with Alcohol; all the other applications I've installed so far have not caused any issues. If anyone has any idea........

1. type "regedit" 2. Navigate to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products 3. search in the subkeys for the ProductID of Alcohol 4. When you find it, delete the subkey 5. reinstall Alcohol again

I read and re-read all the responses but none of them are possible in my case, I have Vista 64 bits.

However, I found the solution. I was trying to install Quicktime when I got the message about the "Policy .......".

The solution, even though I am the Administrator of my computer, is to right-click on the file and select "Install as administrator" and that's it.

Good evening everyone, I think I found the solution after trying practically everything
- deleting the registry keys of the software in question
- cleaning the registry using CCleaner
- modifying the administrator settings
- modifying the user account settings

anyway, I was getting desperate and by right-clicking on my installation icon on the desktop, an option appeared that said "run as administrator." I clicked on it and perfect....!!!

I had a similar problem, however, when I did "run as admin" I always received the same error.

The problem was related to the registry. In the section for Windows Installer keys, there was an entry for the program I was trying to install.

I used the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove my program from the list.

I re-ran my MSI and everything works fine.
