Installation of IEEE 1284.4 Software Driver

Hello,
For the past few weeks, when I try to print a document (Word) on my HP LaserJet 1012 printer, my Vista 64 computer (purchased 5 months ago) displays the following:
Windows needs to install the driver software for your IEEE 1284.4 Generic printer port.
I start to install it but it stops and gives the above message again. I called HP and they told me to DOWNLOAD it from the HP.com/support site, but .... it's not progressing any further.
Could you please help me?

Hello, I don't know if you're still looking, but I just managed to find the solution
I downloaded the driver here
http://h200003.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=306510&lang=en&cc=en&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=377934
You need to extract it into a folder
Connect the USB cable and when searching for the device, point it to the folder.
And there you go, I'm printing right now.
