I CAN'T SEND ATTACHMENTS ANYMORE Solved

Question

Hello,

This morning I wanted to send a few emails with attachments (like I usually do) without any result.

I can insert the addresses from my address book, then I can write a little note, and when I try to add an attachment to my email, no matter how many times I click on it, nothing happens!!!!!

Isn't that strange?
This has never happened to me and yet I've had my computer for 2 and a half years.

For your information, no one touches my PC, it is really only me.

However, yesterday I received a message asking me (this message had been on my screen for at least a week) if I wanted to install the new version of FIREFOX right away, and since they said it was necessary, I got tired of seeing that message every day and I accepted the new update.

Then, they told me to close all my windows and that my PC was going to restart.
Indeed, it restarted, but when I wanted to write my first email with an attachment, nothing!!!!

Could someone please help me? Because I need to send important documents to my employer and unfortunately, I can't do it anymore.

Hi,

Firefox updates do not require restarting Windows...

Are you trying to send emails with attachments using the browser (Firefox, in this case) or with an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird...) ?

Good evening,
I have done a bit of housekeeping with my Firefox updates (the ones that are 1 or 2 years old).
I don't know if it's a consequence, but I can no longer send attachments (photos, various text documents...): I get the following message:

"either there is no default mail client, or the current client cannot respond to the mail request. Run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

In reality, I haven't used Outlook since I got Mozilla.
I would like to return to my previous configuration.
What should I do?

Hello,

There's a bit of confusion here and there... Let's try to clarify things.

I did a bit of tidy-up in my Firefox updates (those from 1 or 2 years ago) <== I don't understand. Firefox does not manage updates this way...

"either there is no default mail client, or the current client cannot fulfill the mail request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client." <== the message is clear: you need a mail client (Firefox is not one, even if you can use it to send emails via http (webmail)). A bit of reading: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Client_de_messagerie

In fact, I haven't used Outlook since I got Mozilla. <== Since you got Mozilla Firefox (and are you exclusively using Webmail?) or since you got Mozilla Thunderbird (=classic mail client, equivalent to Outlook)?

I would like to get my previous configuration back. <== Which one? The one with Outlook?

Read the Wiki article and try to answer clearly if you want to do Webmail or use a MUA. Both alternatives are possible, but the steps/configurations are different.

I have the same problem with Thunderbird since the latest updates. I have properly configured my email and not Microsoft Outlook as the default program, but nothing works. The right-click feature that is handy for sending a file to a recipient no longer works, and it's frustrating...

Same message as Zorah and the same problem as Cécile: .
While Thunderbird (2.020.22 on automatic update) is indeed the default email client (with verification at each startup), right-clicking on a file/Sending to recipient results in an Outlook failure message!!!.
Is this a bug in Thunderbird or in Outlook?
Should we uninstall Outlook to have tranquility?

Hello,
Here’s the fix that solved the problem on my 2 PCs running XP and Thunderbird:

Start / Set default programs / Custom: open the window and force "Thunderbird as the default email program."

(But then, it would be a Windows update that removed the option...)
What does it give?
