Find the title and artist of the song

Hello,
For my grandfather's cremation ceremony, I'm looking for a song (title + artist) that he would occasionally sing. Here is an excerpt from the lyrics of that song: "Come back beautiful month of May, make all the birds sing. Bring back joy under the shade of the elm trees." I'm sorry, but that's all I have. It must be a bit of an old song since my grandfather sang it (he was 89 years old). If you find the title and/or the artist, it would be nice of you to let me know.
Thank you.

Hello,
I am 60 years old and I learned this song in primary school!

Here is what I remember

Come back, beautiful month of May
Make all the birds sing
Bring joy
Under the shade of the elm trees
Give the violet back
The brightness of its spring
And let the daisy
Be reborn in the fields

Bring sweetness
The beauty of your colors
And let the bright sun
Announce your awakening
O May, let your youth
Come back to enchant us
Restore joy to our saddened hearts.

Hello Alexouuu
I remember this song, there are other verses, I think, but my memory fails me

Come back beautiful month of May (W.A MOZART)

1. Come back beautiful month of May,
Make our forests green again,
And make bloom again,
The violet by the stream;
Ah! what is our impatience,
To see these violets open,
In the new beauty,
When will we see you blossom again.

2. When will we really see,
The sweet spring green again,
Come back beautiful month of May,
For the joy of all the children;
Bring a thousand violets,
Let them bloom everywhere;
Also bring back the nightingale
And of course the call of the cuckoo.

I covered this song (with inaccurate lyrics) on my blog bazarnaum in Agartha city in my short story "Little Doll 1900".

Come back beautiful month of May, make all the birds sing,
revive the cheerfulness under the shade of the elm trees.
Restore to the violet, the brightness of its spring,
and let the daisy bloom in the fields.

In this budding spring, ......

and I no longer know the rest!

And I was looking for the lyrics to that song I sang in my childhood! What a pleasure to see that people haven't forgotten. Well done!

If it can help you, I have another verse, in addition to yours we are currently rehearsing it with my choir for the concert on June 21, here it is in full:
Come back beautiful month of May
Make our forests green again
And let the violets bloom once more
By the stream
Ah how we long
To see these violets open
In your new beauty
When will we see you blossom again?

When will we truly see
The sweet spring green again?
Come back beautiful month of May
For the joy of all children
Bring a thousand violets
Let them bloom everywhere
Also bring back the nightingale
And the call of the cuckoo

At the beginning of May
We go to gather the lily of the valley
In the coolness of the woods
The humble flower stirs us
And great is our joy
To pick this little sprig of happiness
That these delicate bells
Perfume our homes and our hearts

There you go, it is sung to a tune by Mozart. Happy singing

Have a great day everyone

I'm a bit late to the party, but I confirm that this song is inspired by a lied by Mozart... the translation is actually quite faithful to the original text in German.

Come back, beautiful month of May, make all the birds sing.
Bring back joy under the shade of the elms
Restore the violet to the brilliance of its spring
And let the daisy be reborn in the fields

Come back beautiful month of May, make all the birds sing.
Bring back joy, under the shade of the elms
Restore to the violet the brightness of its spring
And let the daisy be reborn in the fields

Bring your sweetness, the beauty of your colors
And may the bright sun announce your awakening
Without you new season, the meadows are asleep
Let the swallow quickly find its sweet nest

In this icy winter, we dream of the month of May
We are shivering, waiting for spring
Oh May, may your youth return to charm us
Restore joy to our soothed hearts.

Thank you Lyrico for confirming Picholine's reply then. Thank you all, have a nice day. (Cool this forum how does it work; it really works well)

Unfortunately, no, it's not this song, but it's kind nonetheless.

Does anyone have any idea about the author and/or title of this song?

Here is the excerpt I know:
Come back, beautiful month of May, make all the birds sing.
Bring back cheer under the shade of the elms
Oh you new season, wake our hearts (or bodies) that are asleep.
May the swallow quickly rebuild its sweet nest

Really thank you if you have any ideas

Oh May, let your youth charm us again
Bring back the joy, to our calmed hearts

Super, thanks Edenea! I can't use it for my grandfather's cremation ceremony, but I will pass this on to my mother, it will make her happy. So thanks to you, Lyrico, and Picholine as well. Thanks everyone, keep it up!

Oh beautiful month of May
Make all the birds sing
Bring back the joy
Under the shade of the elms
Restore to the violet
The brightness of its spring
And let the daisy
Rebirth in the fields.

These are the lyrics of the first verse. I too am looking for the continuation...
I also learned this song when I was young.
