How to remove speech bubbles from a comic?

Hello,

I would like to rework digitized comics, specifically to remove speech bubbles and harmonize the background once they are removed. Does anyone have a solution for me?

Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.10

    With Photoshop, I manage to cut out the bubble, remove it, and then reconstruct the background, but it's very tedious; I'm looking for a more practical solution...

    Use paint.net, it's a good program for photo editing.
