I agree with the second Max :=) be careful with free online software: here we are not talking about photo editing software or music software... but about entrusting your company's sensitive data to a free provider. So there is no guarantee that our data will be protected, that the software will survive or become paid or worse, that the data will be sold for marketing or other purposes...
Personally, I use a paid professional online software at an affordable price https://www.myflexina.com. With Flexina, I know my data is protected and I have access to support, with backups three times a day...

We actually ask our clients not to post messages on forums because they are filled with messages from small software publishers who are advertising and not from real users!
First of all, Philip's comment smells a bit like false competition writing a message for no reason, without making accusations but by comparing the price that you communicate and the number of corresponding spam advertisements at that price... I would lean towards the ultra present software in the forums that claims to be free but is actually paid if you really want to use it...
First of all, the price of 19.99 euros/month is not accurate, there is already a version of Flexina at 9.99 euros/month.
When comparing, you need to compare comparable things, you are comparing the price of software to the price of a professional service.

Well, free software doesn't exist (who works for free?)! I completely agree with Franck, there are only commercial scams with false claims of free access! (like limiting the number of invoices that can be printed, for example, or a trial period of x days without being warned).

and no, free does exist, in the field of management it's tougher indeed because it involves money and the fake free offers to lure the gullible are plentiful.
It's rare but it exists, personally I spend time helping others, it's true that I don't make a living from it, but it exists, what is frustrating are the false promises and the scams...
Open source like Linux and the software that runs (well) in this environment is a large-scale example of free that works really well.

If you have some experience or simply if you are good at math, use Microsoft Office to create your own little quoting or invoicing program. You also have the option to download free software, but there’s a certain pleasure in creating your own "little program" (I managed to do it for budgeting and also for hour calculations and others, so you can do it too). Moreover, if you don’t have Office, you can download Open Office for free, which will also allow you to "create a little program."
Between the free ones that become paid (and not just a little) after 3 documents entered, and those that we can do ourselves with Excel, I haven't yet found a truly nice free option.

1 year of lost documentation in a few seconds due to 2 consecutive crashes, believe me... I immediately adopted online solutions. Personally, I use this one, which is reliable and comprehensive https://bpifrance-creation.fr and at least I have genuine online or phone assistance in case of problems.
I would like to add "Sale n'Go" as the latest quoting/invoicing software (as well as reporting) that is SaaS-based, so it does not require installation and allows access from anywhere. It manages quotes, invoicing, proforma, your catalog, your clients, as well as reporting, alerts, and reporting.
