Unzip error on Mac

Hello, I left a post at the same time as yours above.

It's a folder containing images and Word documents that I compressed on my Mac, and now when I try to decompress them, it doesn't work.

I have my zipped file on the desktop, and when I double-click on it, it says "Unable to extract XXXX in 'Desktop' (error 1 - Operation not permitted.)"

I used a USB key to read the same file on Windows, and when opening it, this file is empty but with a DS document.

This file is 20MB but seems to be empty while originally it had over a hundred documents inside.

The problem is that my file is already compressed.

Then maybe the same day or a little later I tried to protect this folder with a password, so I attempted to create an image (but that has nothing to do with this folder), then I applied a password for sharing.

originally I had a zipped folder that I wanted to protect with a password,
but the password protection only happens by creating an image

So I created an image named X, but there was no connection between this image and my zipped folder.

I was just providing this information in case it would be useful.


As for the password, I changed it in APPLE > system preferences > account > change password

but they seem to have no relation,
but in my opinion, the zip file is definitely dead

These Word files were created on Windows, maybe Mac couldn't handle the document and therefore corrupted it.

I use Word

And for images, I use PNG.

But how is it possible if they are zipped?

The zip file was created on April 20

Do you think that if I use Time Machine, I can recover the original files deleted that same day?
Or is it too late, should I have activated Time Machine before that date?
