How to combine multiple videos

A tip if the videos are in the same format.
Combine several video files into one with a small command prompt command to copy into a .bat file in the same folder as the videos to combine; which gives something like:
copy /b video1.mpg+video2.mpg+video3.mpg+video4.mpg+video5.mpg+video6.mpg d:\Bourvil.mpg

or combine all the videos in a folder: copy /b *.*mpg d:\Bourvil.mpg

Resolved the compilation of several video files into one and the issue
of the total duration of the resulting file being equal to the first compiled file.

Well, it's not complicated (after all... after spending quite a bit of time on it!).

Step 1: compile all video files into one:

Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt

navigate to the directory containing the video files to compile using
the CD command: Change Directory

(C:\ cd root\main_directory\sub_directory\etc...

ex: cd C:\Documents and Settings\Scheduling\Desktop\40_years)

Step 2: compiling the video files into one

copy /b *.file_extension file_name.file

copy /b: binary copy = copying or assembling multiple files without questioning
each bit is copied as is

*.extension = * represents any string of characters, here all files with the specified file extension (ex: *.avi will copy/assemble all AVI files)

file_name.extension = name and extension of the file containing the final assembly.

ex: copy /b *.avi 40_years.avi

Step 3: video duration issue.

To restore a video duration corresponding to the sum of the durations of each of the videos making up the final assembly and thus be able to watch the entire video and not just the first of the compiled videos (it's clear!),

you need to use a video format conversion software (here I used Free Video Converter from Koyote Soft) and thus convert the file containing all
of the compiled videos.

And there you go, the new converted file is okay in terms of duration and the full view works!

Otherwise, if you have a Webcam, you should also have tools that are on the CD... Besides that, you have paid software options, like "Adobe Premiere," Ulead products...

VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
1 file(s) copied.

I don't know how to search for the file, I tried searching for .vob on my drives, but nothing worked.
The file is 6 GB so I would really like to find it :/

I followed the trick from marmouzdu with bat commands. I get a file that sums up the source files, but the player only reads the first file. I saw that others had the same result. Has anyone found the solution?

I understand you're getting an error message. Are your VTS files in the same folder as the .bat command file? If not, you'll need to specify the full path.
Or to have time to read the error message, use the MS-DOS command line.
Start/Run/cmd and paste the command from the .bat file instead of retyping it.

I'm on XP, but I suppose it works on Vista as well.

It works, but indeed, the resulting video is the correct size but the length of the first video is retained. However, when you navigate through the file (for example: with Windows Media Player), you can scroll through the entire video (the complete assembly). In my opinion, we need to find a solution so that the player correctly understands the video's duration. I haven't found the trick yet, but I'm working on it...
