Hello (or good evening),
I am the happy owner of a Razer Lachesis mouse, but lately I've been having some problems. The cursor freezes when launching Windows, then it only moves HORIZONTALLY! I installed the latest firmware and it became relatively normal again.
Then comes the worst part, it no longer moves at all... Nothing works, it's just not responding.
In the Windows Device Manager, I get the following message:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. This driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
Who can help me? :D

You may have installed the wrong driver.
You can download the driver for a Razer Lachesis mouse here: http://www2.razerzone.com/drivers/lachesis/LachesisV1.00.zip

A complete uninstallation and reinstallation of all drivers or firmware will surely fix your problem.
To avoid wasting time uninstalling everything and to prevent leaving traces of the old uninstalled drivers, try directly restoring your computer to the state it was in before you plugged in your Razor mouse for the first time.
To do this, you need to perform a system restore:
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore>In the new window, click Next>In the calendar, choose the date before you installed your mouse>Next>And then your computer will automatically restore (the restoration occurs during the computer's reboot).
Once the restoration is complete, your computer will have no drivers or firmware for your mouse (it will be as it was before you bought your mouse).
Then, reinstall the latest driver for your mouse.
There you go.
P.S: System restore does not make any changes to documents!

Will the restoration of the system therefore delete everything I have added to my disk since the given date?
All that is recorded documents, emails, etc... no! But all that is programs, drivers, settings, yes: they will be restored (or deleted) according to the date you choose in the calendar.
So it won’t delete everything you’ve added to your disk since the given date.
More precise definition: What files are modified during a System Restore?
System Restore affects Windows system files, programs, and Registry settings. Scripts, command files, and other types of executable files may also be modified on your computer.
Note: Personal files, such as emails, documents, or photos are not affected. Therefore, System Restore does not allow you to recover a deleted file. If you have backed up your files, you can restore them from a backup.

Thank you very much everyone!
I have carried out all these procedures but to no avail. It seems that the infrared sensor is malfunctioning because the left and right clicks as well as the scroll wheel are still working.

Hello, I have a problem almost identical to yours; the mouse cursor is stationary upon launching Windows (XP or W7, it's the same issue), but the buttons work.
When I start the PC, the mouse takes a while to move (it can be from a few seconds to several minutes), like you, the buttons are usable just like the scroll wheel.
Additionally, I've had precision issues, or the mouse freezing as if there were invisible walls on the desktop.
I haven't tried reinstalling, but apparently, that doesn't resolve anything...

Just a few days ago, I could hardly find any topics on the net, but more and more are appearing on the forums; it would be great if Razer would address the problem.
Personally, I’m going to send them an email, you never know.

@Stratop: what did your email yield?
I bought a RAZER mouse called IMPERATOR...
It is impossible for me to click on one of the extra buttons on the mouse and a key on my keyboard at the same time.
The action assigned to the mouse button only happens if I am not touching the keyboard...
(drivers updated - I tried different shortcuts - I even tried with macros - the different buttons on the mouse give me the same result)
[A "Gamer" mouse? WTF!]

Hi, I received a standard response:
"We are sorry that you are having some trouble with one of our products. In order to better assist you, can you supply and or confirm some of the following information for us. (Yea, sorry this is somewhat of a generic response to your problem. But we find that by confirming these questions it helps us solve your problem a bit quicker.)
Please try the following:
1. Disconnect all other USB devices from your computer and plug your device into another USB slot than it is currently using. Does this make any difference?
2. Try your product on another computer system. Does the device work on the other system?
3. Uninstall the drivers, restart your computer. Then try the device with no drivers installed. Is there any difference in the problem?
Also can you please provide us with the following information:
1. Please describe the problem in detail, including any error message if applicable.
2. What is the driver and/or firmware version installed for your Razer device? The driver and firmware version for your Razer device can be found in the Razer Configurator software. This can be under the Lighting and Maintenance tab or directly on the Razer Configurator.
3. What operating system is being used and is a 32 or 64 bit system?
4. Does the problem occur in only a specific application or does the problem occur in all operating environments?"
So, I'm waiting for a response to see if it will help me or if they will tell me to return it where I bought it ... I'll keep you updated as soon as I know more.

@Stratop: I don't know the reason for the problems your mouse is experiencing, but have you tried this:
- wiping the lens under the mouse with a soft cloth,
- going to the manufacturer’s website for your mouse and finding the latest drivers for it,
- what kind of mouse pad are you using?
- test the mouse on another PC, if possible, to see if the problems come from the mouse or your PC (drivers or other issues)
Regarding my problem posted just before, I'm "canceling" it: the problem I encountered is "active" only in the game Age of Conan but does not appear in other applications...

Hi, yes I've already tried all that and the problem persists.
I received a new response from Razer, as I suspected, they're asking me to return my mouse to the retailer.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem with the LAZER LACHESIS 4000 DPI; I then took it back to the seller who exchanged it for me, but the problem started again and persists with the exchanged model.
I tried everything: Drivers, Firmware from their website.
The issue doesn't occur immediately but rather shortly after acquiring the hardware.
I wonder if it isn't a general defect rather than a specific case... because having tried both defective mice on several different computers, the problem clearly comes from the mouse.
If I could give advice to new users of this hardware: I DO NOT RECOMMEND INSTALLING THE DRIVERS, it seems to me that part of the problem comes from these drivers -and the firmwares- , as they manifest shortly after their installation.

I have the same problem, the mouse lights up, the clicks and the scroll wheel work, but the cursor doesn't move...
I tried changing the USB port, cleaning the sensor but couldn't achieve anything :/!
Moreover, the program provided on the CD with the mouse for managing it does not detect it :s
So I'm thinking of completely formatting my PC to start from scratch.

I would advise you to take it back to the store where you bought it.
They exchanged mine directly for a gift card, and I bought a mouse from a different brand.

I'm coming back to this topic. I have the same issue with a Razer Naga.
My mouse freezes at startup of Windows and works in jerks afterwards. I use it with a Razer Exactmat pad. But I just discovered something strange. If I place my mouse on a plain white sheet of paper right from the PC startup, I have no issues... The mouse works perfectly...
Have you also noticed this for those who have this problem?

I have EXACTLY the same problem with a Razer Naga. On my Thunder 8 mat, it doesn't work (the cursor stays frozen). On anything else, it works.
My tests:
I changed the cable today, I had tested it on the floor (yes, I was cleaning...) and I was so happy that it worked! I put everything away and put the mat back: NOT OK
So I thought maybe I'll remove the feet, maybe they're too thick. I tested it on the table: MIRACLE, on the mat nothing... It still worked for 3 years...
Firmware issue? Laser that has worn out over time? It seems to me visually that it is made of plastic... That would explain it.
So for now I will change my mat which was getting pretty old and dirty, it's a good time for that, and I will probably switch to a medium-sized soft Qpad.
Changing the surface is magic!

I tried your method of starting with a blank sheet three times in a row and... Miracle !!!!!!!!!! I swear I have no more problems with my mouse when I start my PC like this. Everyone at home remains skeptical about this method but they see that it works.
If anyone knows the why and how out of curiosity...

Hello everyone
I'm leaving a message because I have a rather strange problem with my mouse. After a year and a half of use without any issues, my wired Razer Naga mouse is starting to seriously malfunction.
Let me explain the situation: when I turn on my PC, the laser doesn't work, but all the other elements do – the left and right clicks, the 12 buttons, and the scroll wheel, but the laser doesn't work at all, so the arrow on my screen doesn't move.
And now for the special moment ^^
The laser works again 10 minutes, sometimes 1 hour, sometimes 3 hours later.
I've done some research, but I can't find a solution. I've performed all kinds of tests:
- Driver updates
- Changed USB ports
- Blown air and cleaned the lens
- Placed a white sheet
- Restarted the PC
- Tested on another PC and the problem is the same
But nothing works; it only functions when it feels like it. Of course, when I open my PC, I have to wait God knows how long before I can play with my Razer.
I need your help. If anyone has any info, I’m all ears.
