Hello,
Has anyone used the "VISTAQUEST FS 501 or 500-1 CONVERTER" to scan slides to transfer them to CD-R??? What is your level of satisfaction if that is the case?? Should we take any precautions regarding the advertised specifications???
Thank you very much for your responses

Hello everyone,
I finally figured out how this device purchased on TELESHOPPING works....
Here's how to proceed:
first, you need to plug the device into the power outlet (and NOT into the computer) and insert an SD card into the designated slot next to the controls.
Close the lid and then reopen it.
There's no need to insert the CD provided into your computer, it serves NO PURPOSE!!!!
Press the button at the top right or left to select the media you will be working with (the film icon is for slides and negatives)
To confirm, press the button at the bottom (the one next to the red light)
Select again with the 2 buttons at the top the type of media (1st: for slides, 2nd: for B/W negatives, and finally 3rd: for color negatives)
Confirm with the big button.
Place your negatives or slides in the appropriate holder and slide it from right to left into the device. When the image on the small screen of the VISTAQUEST looks good, click the big button to save it to the SD card.
Repeat the process for all your images.
Once the transfer is complete, all you have to do is insert your SD card into your computer and edit your photos using PICASA, for example.
I hope my instructions are clear and that they will be useful to you : )

Thank you for the explanations regarding the Vistaquest FS 501. Brief, clear, and precise information—exactly what I needed to get the device working. Thank you very much.

The device does indeed work independently... Two issues with that: the pixel depth is 8 bits instead of the promised 10, and my device reformatted the SD card without telling me, which is not very cool if you have some documents on it.
