      Same thing for me and no response in the manual... moreover, when powered on, the player starts by itself and the disc tray won't open anymore!

      I have the same problem with a DVDR610 that I bought second-hand for 30 euros but without the remote control, and my Philips universal remote is inoperative with this DVD.
      I finally found a suitable remote control on the website telecommande.net or at 04.74.61.10.88.
      Perfect.
