Hello everyone,
I just subscribed to ADSL and I have a little issue with my modem that seems to be out of sync due to a surveillance alarm.
I bought a Speedtouch passive filter, the wiring doesn’t seem complicated, but I don't know which phone line wires to connect to which terminals on the filter.
If someone has already done this connection, could they explain the wiring to me? Is there another solution besides this, since FT can't provide me with any information and the alarm company doesn't want to deal with the issue?

Hi, I work at an alarm company (I install). I know that the most recurring problem is that the alarm transmitter is connected before the filter... To find out, it's simple: 1- Notify your monitoring company about the tests you are going to perform 2- Connect to the internet 3- Trigger your alarm so that the transmitter makes a call 4- Check if your connection was interrupted... If it was, it means your alarm panel is connected before the filter, so modify the wiring... If you don't see how to do it, contact me... @+ :o)))

I want to subscribe to ADSL but the problem is that I have an alarm connected to my telephone line.
I was told to buy a passive filter, which I did.
I don’t know how to do it.
Moreover, there is a socket for the modem while the connections for the alarm and the phone are on the lower floor.

I'm totally disconnected
my ADSL drops every day at a fixed time for 2 hours then comes back normally
the only thing I suspect is that I had an alarm with a teletransmitter that emitted a signal to the monitoring center at the same fixed time every day; I'm no longer subscribed but the system has not been unplugged; there are 4 wires: a white one, a blue one, a gray one, and a yellow one. If I disconnect them, I lose my ADSL
what should I do???
thank you, this has been going on for a year. A technician I had come didn't solve the problem but still charged me 100 euros. -
two solutions to get started
1) disconnect your 230V central unit + battery if you are able to reprogram the basic elements (if the central unit has a backup in EEPROM, for example)
the transmitter should normally allow the phone + ADSL to pass if it is at the head of the line
this allows for 1 or 2 days of testing to see if the problem actually comes from the central unit...
2) open the central unit (be careful if there is an AP (tech code required for reactivation)) then on the terminal block of the transmitter, disconnect the line and make a direct connection between the input (name it L1 for example) and the output named P1 for example
do the same with L3 and P3 corresponding (L1-L3) to the input and P1 P3 to the phone post afterwards (in the house, for example)
In both cases, test if the phone line is okay and then if the ADSL works
the second case resolves the problem but may block the intrusion system
in the case of a transmitter setup that is not at the head of the line, then you need to come on-site to see the installation
if the transmitter is remote (not integrated into the central unit) then the same procedure
If you are in total unbundling, the activation of the transmitter frame may crash the DSLAM
what is not coherent is the duration of 2 hours of outage
do you have the phone line during this time (if partial unbundling?)

Hello, I have the same issue. I have a telephone alarm, several filtered telephone sockets, and a passive filter I bought from FT (€30), and it doesn't work. I think the passive filter is not installed correctly. If I could find the solution, I would be very happy. For your information, I was with Télé 2, it didn't work, so I switched to Free, and the problem remains the same. Thank you for your assistance.

The filter is a "master" filter and is installed at the head of the line
The transmitter must have 4 terminals

For my case, the problem was solved as follows:
on a standard line socket are connected in order:
1: the plug coming from the transmitter
2: the ADSL filter
3: the plug of a standard phone.
and the operation has been perfect since the beginning.
note: the security system and the transmitter are from the brand DIAGRAL, installed by myself.

For those who have a lot of "metaphysical" questions about "how to make the telephone, ADSL, and an alarm system with a PSTN transmitter coexist within the same installation," the answers to all your questions...

All possible installation variants are presented with simple, commented principle diagrams.
(pages 14 and 15, for example).
The filters can even be purchased online.
However, a few remarks:
- Telephony, networking, and anti-intrusion security require solid technical skills.
- If you are just a "Sunday handyman," don't take it as derogatory, think carefully before "putting your hands in"!
- The worst-case scenario is as follows:
1) you install the master filter, you get mixed up (between the pairs, the inputs, the outputs, the light blue connectors, etc.),
2) the cables of your installation end up being too short,
3) you extend them with connectors,
4) the ADSL modem no longer synchronizes (you picked the wrong output on the filter....),
5) the transmitter of the intrusion detection system can no longer transmit, detects a line fault, and triggers a local alarm.
6) Finally, you can only call France Telecom when the alarm transmitter finally gives you the line, and that's precisely when the internal siren sounds again.
7) After the tenth call, made possible by turning off the intrusion detection system (main power fuse, battery of the control panel and those of the sirens otherwise it keeps ringing), the France Telecom technician explains that the service call will be charged €100 and will only aim to restore your telephone installation (unless you are subscribed to Wanadoo) for the rest you will still need to contact your alarm installer....
8) Do not call your ISP, there is no home maintenance service for subscribers

A quality alarm telephone transmitter is connected as a priority in order to take the line, making sure to hang up and pick up the handset again so that an undesired person does not occupy the line during a burglary; as such, it naturally cuts off all other phones, faxes, etc., in order to send its voice messages, SMS, or digital signals (if you are under remote surveillance). Therefore, it is necessary to connect it to a filter; however, the supraphonic signals of ADSL cannot pass through a filter (since it is there to block supraphony...)
The solution used by professionals is to install a filter/no-filter switching card remotely controlled by the transmitter.
This is quite common but is difficult to apply to wireless alarms, which are mostly just gadgets...
You can forgo this card if your ADSL modem is connected directly to the FT line head, but this is rare and very impractical, and may cause other problems. (An installer!) -
Hello everyone,
I also have an alarm connected to the phone line, and my question is how this alarm reduces the ADSL speed since it seems to call in case of a problem, so at worst it could interfere with the connection during these calls.
But for example, I have the Freebox connected to one of the "regular" sockets in the installation and I have a speed of about 150kb/s, and if I connect it to the socket where the alarm is plugged in, I have a speed of about 500kb/s, that's quite a difference.

A small remark.
If you follow the ADSL schematic with the transmitter, that's good.
Don’t be tempted to put a simple filter next to your PC on the ADSL line to have the phone because you will immediately lose the advantage of the "line head". And yes, your new phone will be prioritized over the rest of the installation and a lucky thief will unplug your phone before "borrowing" your PC.
The transmitter won’t be able to take the line!!!

Regarding the flow modifications, there can be X solutions.
The first one: it's not the socket that's faulty but the transmitter itself!!!
From the little information provided, it seems like this is an alarm for individuals with a transmitter connected to a standard telephone socket.
The transmitter internally can filter the incoming flow...
Do the same manipulation: disconnect the transmitter and this time test the flow on both sockets.
If the flow is 500k, then it comes from the transmitter.
It is also possible that there is the FT capacitor in the second socket and not in the first (allows for FT line tests but reduces the ADSL flow when it can be above 8M).
In any case, repeat the measurement several times because the ADSL flow is not constant and such variations naturally exist on the network.

Be careful when switching to ADSL with a central...
some transmitters are sensitive to parasitism related to ADSL communication and randomly generate line faults.
It's better to filter the transmitter even though apparently it's not happening. -
