As I pointed out earlier, the operations that will follow will have no effect

without administrator status (the Login name)

    Start\tall programs\accessories\ right-click on Windows Explorer

properties\advanced\ check the box run as administrator, OK then Apply

then right-click on Windows Explorer again add to the quick launch bar

return to the desktop and launch Windows Explorer, go to the HOST folder and

    right-click on it, \properties\security\advanced\owner\edit

check replace owner of sub-cont........, then click on your Login name

    Apply then OK

then give yourself all rights in the first window.

For me, it works, I managed to delete faulty drivers.

      Thank you.

Have you checked with the explorer if the host file exists?

And if it's there, check its properties (security, administrator rights, read-write mode).

That's why you can't write on it; apparently, only the system has access. You may need to take ownership, but if you're not an administrator, there's no point in insisting.

    Until now I am

    right click on it, \properties\security\advanced\owner\edit

But there is no "replace owner of sub-contents"
