You can try the command "net send" in Command Prompt mode
Here is the syntax:

C:\>net send /?
The syntax for this command is:

NET SEND {alias | * | /DOMAIN[:name] | /USERS} message

The thing is that a netsend probably won't work remotely because you'll have to send it to the external IP of the person you want to reach. However, nowadays, most people connect via a router (cable/ADSL...) and typically have a firewall integrated. Therefore, the address provided by the ISP to the subscriber is the router's address, not one of the machines on their network. You would need to be sure that, first, their firewall doesn't block the relevant port, and second, that their router is configured to redirect incoming traffic on the netsend port to the person's machine within their local network, which is much less likely.

So, this is a heads up to everyone who replies nonsense just for the sake of talking; they could go do it, I don’t know, in their own asshole or something. That would be more enlightening.

Finally, if you want to contact a specific person via their IP, they need to be aware of it, so you can both install software together, and if necessary, redirect the required ports from your router to your respective machines.

If it’s someone you want to send a message to absolutely without them being warned, then you would need to exploit a configuration flaw in their router if there is one, and then a flaw in their OS, if there is one. To obtain this information, well, you have work to do, do some research on the net, it’s doable. But it’s not guaranteed that you’ll find any vulnerabilities…

First of all, you need to enable the messaging.

In Windows XP, go to Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services

Find "Messenger" - Right-click and Properties
In General, there is a section that says "Startup type". Set it to automatic.

Then go to Command Prompt and do this:
- Type "net start messenger"
- Type "net (Ip Address) (Message)
*You replace Ip Address with your friend's IP address or use the name of his computer
*You replace (Message) with your message.

Your friend must also do the same thing.

I also believe that the firewall needs to be disabled for it to work.

It works indeed with an IP as well. The question is, however, why do we get this response like some others:
"an error occurred, the alias is not found on the network"

Is the temporary IP provided by the ISP usable for the "net send", at least for the duration of its validity?
Are there specific ports that the receiving machine for the "net send" must open?

Does a router block "net send" by default? If so, what needs to be done for it to accept them?

normal Daxter, by default the message display service is disabled
which means it cannot find the destination IP,
however if you send it to a PC with the service started it works

Moreover, my message display service is nonexistent, I remember disabling it one day, and I did such a good job that I can't even find it to reactivate it!
