COD5 : Impossible de charger l'image 'gamefonts_pc'

Hello,

I installed Call of Duty 5 on 2 different PCs (1 Vista and 1 XP) but I keep getting the same error message when I launch the game:

Couldn't load image 'gamefonts_pc'

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

    Hi friend!!!

    I think I found the faulty files on your end (thanks to a series of tests done just for you^^)

    It's the files localized_english_iwo00 01 and 02. If you want, I can send them to you. Take my MSN address: civenmode@hotmail.fr

      I had the same gamefonts_pc issue (after a whole series of others) that appeared after the game update and after a headache, I went into the Steam folder (in program files) then into steamapps/common/callofdutymodernwarfare2/main and there I deleted all the localized_english_iw files (anyway my game is in French).
      Now I can launch the game without error...

      Yes, the same at my place, I've tried a bunch of possibilities and reinstalled the game twice, but nothing works...
      I hope everything will get back to normal because I haven't found any help anywhere on the Web (and I've been looking for an hour and a half)...

    I'm getting the same error message as you since a Modern Warfare 2 update this morning. Does anyone know if it's coming from Steam or the game itself? =/

    And can't we contact Steam support for a solution?

    Thank you for the little program :) it allows the game to function!! :D but there is still a small problem...
    I used to play at maximum resolution and now since I put the program, the resolution is not great :'( and when I try to set it back to how it was before, the infamous message "couldn't load image 'gamefonts_pc'" reappears... what to do?

    The game is working well again, but there’s still a big resolution issue afterwards,
    impossible to play in max resolution...

    Usually, I play at 1024x768 and now I have to play at 640x480...

    I have the same problem on Modern Warfare 2, it was working fine yesterday (despite my strict NAT issue) and now this morning nothing works...

    A tip found on another forum:

    This solution works but lowers all settings to minimum, and if you try to adjust them back to your preference, you go back to square one: couldn't load gamefonts_pc. Still, it allows you to play in low resolution.

    I understood that it was a file located in COD5/main ... If it is a file, I should be able to find it by searching, but I found nothing.

    I will reinstall it, and I will update you right away.

    Yet I have COD4 and it works very well! COD5 worked very well but since I reinstalled it, it no longer works!

    I reinstalled COD5 and it still doesn't work.. I'm so frustrated!
    Still the same error.

    Many people have this problem too, I hope it's a bug in the game? (I think so because many were affected by this error message on the 21st) me too^^ there are responses to check if you want, apparently changing "localized_english" to "french" and other folder names has changed, I'll try but right now I'm waiting for the game installation to finish lol (I reinstalled it to see) =)
