What is Task Host in Windows?

Try this:

Click on Start\Run, type msconfig.

Open the Startup tab, uncheck all programs,

Apply \ Ok

Restart and observe, be careful, avoid going online during this test

because the antivirus will likely be disabled, you will need to check them again.

I did a complete scan with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and it found the virus HEUR: trojan, it put it in quarantine and everything is back to normal
Malwarebytes didn't find anything, so for me, Kaspersky is the best antivirus on the market

It's true that Kaspersky offers a good product and if I had to pay, that's the one I would choose. But what matters most is what we do on the PC, because I've seen completely infected machines even with Kaspersky.

In fact, it belongs to EasyBits Software Corp., it is not digitally signed and sometimes it makes some antivirus software uneasy. The fact that it is alone reinforces my feeling (an active infection is generally composed of several elements).

It's strange because the file detected by Kaspersky has nothing to do with your problems, it's a known false positive by many antivirus vendors (Norton, BitDefender, etc... for example). The main thing is that everything is working again :)

Detections starting with Heur are files that have characteristics similar to malware after being analyzed by the heuristic engine, but not by the database. Generic means that it has not been completely confirmed as malicious because it is not listed in their database, so there is a higher chance that the file is mistakenly flagged and is not actually malicious.

I first tried Start/Run then msconfig

I noticed it seemed to be working, so I enabled Kaspersky and ran the scan
since it detected something, I thought it was a virus
then I checked all the programs in "Startup" again and since 2 PM my PC has been working fine
what solved the problem, I don't know exactly given your "observations"
the important thing now is that it works, maybe I’ll think about formatting soon (since my PC is like an experiment, I do a lot of things on it to learn of course and improve, when I have a good level I won't make the same mistakes anymore)

I restored to an earlier date when Windows Update had failed to update. So I restored from that date and now there are no more problems.

Hello, so I’m making my modest contribution (if it can help...): having had the same issue, the problem (or rather the problems) doesn’t come from the antivirus, backdoors or anything of the sort, but from the different programs that are launched at startup, which have trouble closing naturally... when restarting or shutting down the machine. It’s a silly annoyance, but at M$ it seems like it has been working this way for ages...
For example, this problem occurred on a machine running WIN 7 SP1 64bit, and I solved the issue with CCleaner: go to the Tools menu, then Startup, and there disable the unnecessary programs at Windows startup, then restart to check (we can do this operation several times if necessary...)
In this case, it was Adobe Acrobat Reader that was the culprit; but depending on everyone's configurations, it could be other programs?

Now if you haven't declared yourself the administrator of your computer, if you can't open system files, if you haven't given yourself full control access to your computer (a very simple procedure), you will have a hard time fixing the malfunctions of your OS which, apart from viruses coming from the outside, come from the system and therefore are in the vast majority of cases, repairable by the user after, most often, searching the internet.
I am 73 years old, I am not a computer scientist, I got my first "computer" in 1980.
PS. One of the multiple reasons that prevented my computer from running and shutting down normally was that it was waiting for the logoff sound from the explorer, too busy filling insignificant "tasks" otherwise.
