hi, I bought a Compaq Presario A 945 EF, but it only works when I'm not browsing... an error message pops up saying "apls pointing device driver has stopped working." I would like to know how to fix this issue because I've only had it for two days and it's driving me crazy.

Start > run > "msconfig" startup tab Find and uncheck the box corresponding to apls pointing device or something like that Validate and then restart the laptop
this should not disable the touchpad but will prevent the error from coming back
Then, if possible, look for the correct drivers for your laptop on the manufacturer's website
