Net Framework 4.0 BUG Solved

Question

Hello CCM

I would like to install .NET Framework on my PC, but I am having some problems during the installation.

The installation gets stuck on "downloading Windows 6.1 -KB....." which means that the installation does not get past this stage; it downloads, and we can clearly see the loading icon spinning for 3 hours, but after a certain time, it tells me the installation of .NET Framework has failed....

Is this installation of Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Download of Windows6.1-KB958488-v6001-x64.msu) an installation of this specific KB only? 2. Is the operating system being updated located on the C: drive? 3. Is the operating system in question installed out of the box? Regards.

Addendum 4. Did the installation begin (I can't believe it crashes during the download, but I might be wrong): if so, the update history should tell you more if the relevant KB is listed there: right-click on the line and you will get the failure details that you can copy-paste here.

1 No, it's not just the KB; it downloads other things before but ends up getting stuck on that one... 2 Yes, it's located on the Local C: drive 3 Yes, it's the original system 4 Yes, the installation started, and it stops right in the middle on KB, etc... And it keeps running for 3 hours....

Re, I won't be able to help you any further... But you didn't fully answer point 4: could you check in > Control Panel > Windows Update > View update history: 1. take a screenshot that you will share with us here; 2. also right-click on the most recent failed update and copy the details that you will paste in your next response.

Thank you!  In your first link, the vertical slider seems too low: there should be updates after (more recent than) the one on 01/08/2012! They are visible in your second link but, unfortunately, they are hidden by the window (requested) displaying the details of the failure of the update for HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor  Comment: from what is visible, it seems that several updates with the same subject are repeated; these are the ones occupying the entire horizontal space and ending with "(...) for x64 systems (KB2..." Could you take another copy of this page with the vertical slider positioned all the way up and with the "Name" column extended all the way to the right, so that we can see which KB... it is? (KB2468871) (5) 12/21/2011 - Important - Failed - Security update for Microsoft .NET Framework version 4 (...) (KB2572078) (6) 12/21/2011 - Important - Failed - Security update for Microsoft .NET Framework version 4 (...) R1: Apparently, Microsoft .Net Framework 4 is already installed, but it's strange because every software that needs the Framework is bugging... (e.g.: Visual Basic)

Click on NDP and see the versions installed on your PC.

Try installing by disabling your Antivirus and Firewall!
Do not connect to the internet during the trial.

I say this because there is something preventing the installation of this software.

SP1 can also be found in Windows updates without knowing it.
Personally, I've had nothing but trouble with this Win 7 SP1.

It may be this update (SP1) that contains something that prevents the installation and gives an error message.
On the internet, neither at Microsoft nor anywhere else can I find a solution to this problem.
Personally, I had to format my hard drive because of the SP1 which was causing me a lot of trouble, and now I have two .NET Framework 4 installed: the .NET Framework Client and the .NET Framework Extended.

I'm cracking up, my computer has 50 problems and I think they might all come from the same thing (ERROR_INTERNET_TIMEOUT). I can't access the Firewall (the Advanced Function), I'm unable to update Windows (code 80072EE2), can't upload anything, and can't install the .NET Framework...

I hope it knows how to fly because I live on the 9th floor!

Remove the SP1 from Win 7, you will see later.
Personally, I formatted and reinstalled everything and I didn't have any more problems afterward.

This manipulation only works if the Service Pack was installed by the user. If it was integrated during a Windows installation, you cannot remove it. You must be an administrator of the computer to uninstall Service Pack 1.

You can't remove it if it was on the PC at purchase (so pre-installed)!
Or you have to format, which is another kettle of fish because you need another WIN 7 DVD but without SP1,
You certainly don't have the DVD of your pre-installed Windows.

Personally, I formatted mine and reinstalled Win 7 with my DVD that doesn’t have SP1.
I didn't install it afterward and I refuse it through Windows updates
that I don't do automatically because Windows throws all sorts of things that cause problems with its system and the software installed on the PC.

Now, you need to know if your SP1 is the exact cause of the problem.
Because there are those who don’t have SP1 and still don’t know how to install
NFW 4.

You could still think about doing a thorough scan of your PC, as Tribun has already suggested.
Once that's done and as soon as you are sure your computer is "clean," make the necessary backups and then perform a "factory reset" if the problem persists: I see no other way to go about it, unless you "hide" the NF4 update and wait for the release of an NF5 or later that would overwrite the previous NFs.

I scanned my PC but it is clean, no problems were detected (with Bitdefender). However, I have a question, could the problem be that the installation program cannot communicate...
Let me explain, since I can no longer upload anything or do anything related to input and output on my computer. Could the problem perhaps be that it is not receiving the information (because the firewall is blocking it or something, I don’t know)
so it keeps processing and processing in search of information?

The problem may come from your Windows which has damaged or missing files.
In this case, a system reinstallation is necessary to restore everything.
If you have the Win 7 DVD, you can reinstall the system without data loss.
Simply insert the DVD into the drive without restarting the PC and follow the instructions.

But not all versions of Win 7 have this function.

No worries :)

I still want to thank you (Tribun and CCMClaude) because you put in a lot of effort for me.

This issue is thus resolved even though the solution hasn't truly been resolved (It will probably remain a mystery...)

Well, the resolution is that your PC had many bugs, as you so rightly say.
As I pointed out in my replies, Windows had to have a problem with corrupted or missing files.
And often the bugs come from Windows, which for one reason or another has suffered damage and does not work as it should.
Reinstalling is the best way to recover the corrupted or missing files.

PS. Incorrect handling, system freezes, or viruses are the main causes of malfunction.
In the end, it works, that's what matters.
