Command & conquer 3 issue

Hello,
I bought a new computer with Windows 7 and I installed Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars on it, but when I try to play, I receive this message:

Make sure that DirectX 9.0 or higher is installed. Check that your graphics card meets the minimum requirements and that you haven't disabled hardware acceleration in the Display Control Panel.

I tried reinstalling it and everything goes fine each time. I have DirectX 11 and I tried it on other computers with Windows 7 and the problem is the same.

Could you help me?

  1. Here is the solution to the C&C General resolution problem on Windows 7:

    -Go to the folder C:\Users\ Your Username \Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Data
    - Open the options.ini file and copy the following in place of the existing text:

    AntiAliasing = 2
    BuildingOcclusion = yes
    CampaignDifficulty = 0
    DrawScrollAnchor = yes
    DynamicLOD = no
    ExtraAnimations = yes
    GameSpyIPAddress = 0.0.0.0
    Gamma = 50
    HeatEffects = yes
    IPAddress = 0.0.0.0
    IdealStaticGameLOD = Low
    LanguageFilter = false
    MaxParticleCount = 5000
    MoveScrollAnchor =
    MusicVolume = 50
    Resolution = 1440 900
    Retaliation = yes
    SFX3DVolume = 72
    SFXVolume = 64
    ScrollFactor = 145
    SendDelay = no
    ShowSof****erEdge = yes
    ShowTrees = yes
    StaticGameLOD = Custom
    TextureReduction = 0
    UseAlternateMouse = yes
    UseCloudMap = yes
    UseDoubleClickAttackMove = no
    UseLightMap = yes
    UseShadowDecals = yes
    UseShadowVolumes = yes
    VoiceVolume = 78

    - Adjust the resolution according to your setup
    - Right-click on the game launch file and go to properties
    - There modify the compatibility option to Windows XP SP3 and check "Run this program as an administrator".

    There you go!!!
    1. You need to download the patch by following this link

      http://portal.commandandconquer.com/portal/site/tiberium/article/detail?contentId=60e2cf59763d0210VgnVCM100000100d2c0aRCRD

      then install it without starting the game (it's a .exe file)

      after that, the game works normally
      1. the simplest thing is for you to go to all the drivers (type tld on google)
        then go to my drivers accept the module that will detect your hardware configuration
        for your problem with damers there is nothing to be done. it's like back in the day with the counter problem on vista.
        1. I have the same problem.
          But when I install the additional disc: THE FURY OF KANE
          well
          everything works WONDERFULLY. !!!
          So should I buy the second disc?!

          I have Windows Seven 64- and ASUS ENGTX460 direct 11 graphics card
          A+
          1. Hello, I downloaded the 2 games on Steam, and neither of them work because I'm on Windows 7... I hope you have a solution for me... I tried the compatibility adjustments, but it doesn't change anything... ugh I'm so disappointed.
        2. Hello everyone, I have several questions to ask you. I've been playing C&C 3 Tiberium Wars for 4 months, and I did my last update two days ago.
          1st how do we create our own custom map?
          2nd I downloaded a pack of 6 maps and I received a WinRAR file, how can I install it?

          Thanks in advance.

            Forget about DirectX 11 with this graphics card.
            Install the latest drivers.
            1. Same for me, I bought an HP Pavilion dv7 and nothing works, it tells me to check the HD 4250 graphics card and DirectX 11!
              1. I had the same problem

                Solution: Plug in the HD cable and download the latest patches from the game menu, and there you go, it's done.
                1. Hello, I solved my problem that is identical to yours

                  already in c: program files, or program files x86 for those who have Windows 7 64b

                  go to electronic arts, command and conquer 3

                  and right-click on cnc3 and properties, compatibility, check the compatibility box and choose xp sp3

                  then check the box at the bottom run as administrator

                  apply ok,

                  then restart the game's homepage to be able to click on update, because without doing this manipulation it gives me the famous message about direct x, by doing this I can perform the update, download the patches, it takes quite a while.
                  1. Hello everyone, your Command & Conquer 3 (or Generals or Hour H) does not work with Windows 7?
                    No problem.

                    Install Command & Conquer normally.
                    Launch Command & Conquer and there, it crashes (that’s normal).
                    In the Documents folder, a Command & Conquer folder is created.
                    Open this folder and delete all files inside.
                    Then create a folder called "Maps" and a ".ini" file named Options. (These 2 files are created at the root).

                    In the Options.ini file, note: IdealStaticGameLOD = Low
                    StaticGameLOD = Low (copy and paste) then save the file.
                    In the Maps folder, (nothing)

                    On the Command & Conquer icon, right-click:
                    -choose "Compatibility" then check for "Windows XP Sp3"
                    -At the bottom, check Run as administrator
                    -Do the same in the "Change settings for all users" tab. THEN Apply OK.

                    Normally, Command & Conquer launches under Windows 7.
                    You just have to reconfigure the graphic options as you wish through the game.

                    (If for Generals and Hour H, create the folder in both)

                    Have fun playing everyone.
                  2. @MimilI neither have any Command and Conquer folder in My Documents. I'm starting to pull my hair out because even the solution mentioned earlier to change the compatibility doesn't work |-(
                  3. @ZerAI forgot to mention that I have Generals + Hour H in a boxed version with real CD keys. So... it annoys me lol
                  4. thank you l'égyptien
                  5. I want to thank Mimil from the bottom of my heart because thanks to him my game works on W7. I had been tearing my hair out for a year and then I had given up until I stumbled upon this post by chance. Thank you a thousand times again.
                2. There is no way to make this game compatible with Windows 7?
                  1. I had the same problem as you!

                    All you need to do is download the patch that will be offered to you by checking the available updates through the game's home window.

                    The patch solved the problem!!
                  2. @emeline23Hello
                    I have the same issue. I went to the website but either I am too tired or it is poorly designed because I see the comment on the patch but no link to download it...
                    Could you send me the URL for the patch?
                    Thanks in advance
                  3. Hello, I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 and all my old games no longer work.
                  4. command and conquer generals, sim2, age of empires, but command and conquer 4 and starcraft 2 work.
                3. Well, it's probably an incompatibility with Windows 7
                  because I tried it on another computer with Windows 7 and the same error occurred, same message
                  I also tried with another Command & Conquer CD and it's still the same...
                  1. The performance index alone gives you an idea; if it weren’t installed, you would have an index of 1.0 (determined by the lowest sub-index). If you have an index of 5.9, it means everything is installed.

                    1. So it's an HP PC, performance index 5.9
                      and how can I know if my driver is properly installed?
                      1. Hello

                        I have a desktop computer
                        purchased from Boulanger
                        NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 graphics card
                        <= is it a so-called "custom-built" PC or a brand name?

                        Is the driver for your NVIDIA card properly installed? You can find it on the NVIDIA website and update it anyway.

                        If you look at the system properties, what does the Windows performance index say?

                            If you just bought the computer, the graphic drivers should be present, but you can never be sure of their version...

                            1. What kind of computer did you buy? Laptop or Desktop?
                            2. Did you buy it at a large retailer?
                            3. What is your graphics card?
                            - If ATI: Do you have an ATI icon in your taskbar? (The Control Center)

                            So, you tried to install DX9 which is on your game's DVD, yet it's fairly recent, DX9 should be up to date. Try installing this:
                            https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche10906-directx.html

                            Otherwise, it's a graphics card driver issue.
                            1. So I can't help you... Sorry.

                              I asked another helper to come and look at your problem.
