Without talking about "free" and bogus sites, I believe we can still criticize MEETIC. This "French" site, which is far from being free, is one of the pioneering websites that have ended up establishing themselves as references (eBay, Google, etc...). So why not a little economic cock-a-doodle-doo? I admit!
It seems interesting to me, alongside this beautiful success, to explain to non-members the functioning and especially the billing system that I consider (from experience) to be extremely limited.
I was long reluctant to make the leap that I thought (wrongly) was almost mandatory for any single person wanting to broaden their horizons.
I quickly came back from this illusion. Let me explain:
It all starts with a "pass" that one can easily choose for a long period given the staggered rates (for me, 6 months = 60 euros).
It turns out that the pass is not really a pass, but it does allow access to the site's true pricing.
This pseudo-pass only allows you to chat with ladies who themselves have taken a subscription (which does not represent the majority, I assure you). You will need to add 9.90 euros/month (for another 6-month period) to interact with the "passers-by."
Options such as "appear offline" are also charged 10 euros/month for 6 months...
To obtain a real pass, you will actually need to spend over 150 euros for 6 months (6 months being the usual package).
Try to access your page from your mobile or iPhone, and you will be prompted to add 6 euros per month...
The worst part of all this is that the few young women subscribers you can chat with are therefore harassed... result: they neither respond to chats nor emails...
Despite a profile that I consider (honestly) to be rather attractive, or at least frankly not off-putting, I have had NO contact since registering three weeks ago! (Not a single response to a simple hello via chat). And I can assure you that I played the game.

Technically, the site has a lot to learn from sites like Facebook or other social networks. It feels like we’re stuck in the 90s...
User-friendliness is not a priority. The questions (apart from the description) remain extremely closed (check your boxes!). This really doesn’t allow for proper expression!

Just wishing to share my experience and especially to save you several dozen euros that you could spend on more profitable or genuinely fun leisure activities.

I confirm my previous post: Meetic is definitely not (or no longer?) the promised land of dating. It's been a month since I've abandoned this site despite my subscription still being valid. I feel much better now. Coming to prepare my spamming (albeit targeted) daily had started to depress me. During these few weeks, I often felt like I was casting bottles into the sea (in electronic form and much less romantic). To address potential detractors, I assure you that, despite not having a high opinion of myself, I believed (and still believe) that I have a profile that is perfectly average. As a result, I expected to achieve a minimum outcome from my (active) presence on the site (by outcome, I mean enriching encounters, not necessarily casual arrangements...).
I come out of this experience neither bitter, nor angry, nor offended, but rather reinforced, despite my efforts, in my initial idea: All of this remains a business exploiting our urban (or rural) loneliness.
My activity on Meetic almost succeeded in depressing me, so I advise all of you who might be hesitant right now against it.
I think that forcing oneself and making an effort (like I eventually did) to go out a little more is much healthier and more beneficial.

Subscribed for six months, my subscription has just expired. My situation having changed, I hadn't been on Meetic for three months.
What a surprise it was a few days ago to discover on my bank statement that I had been charged over €140 for a renewed subscription without notice. I was told over the phone that no refund was possible and that I should read the terms of the contract carefully.

Signed up 10 days ago to test things out and stop criticizing into the void (yes, it costs a fortune to realize that!), I have pretty much the same stories to tell, with the only difference being that I had one of the most eerie encounters..... After an hour of "navigating" the site (that is to say, wandering aimlessly between the "you have a new message (type)" and "they have added you to their favorites," not to mention the "photo requests (type)," plus all the profiles I supposedly matched with at X%, but unfortunately, not connected in over a month..... I suddenly come across a profile that matches me at 76%, knowing that the average is usually below 70% (I had previously had only one "match" at 75%).... of course, I check the profile and find a familiar face.... deceased for over 6 months!!!! He too hadn't been online for more than a month, how surprising...
Furious, but composed, I call customer service to report the "issue," and I speak to someone who took about 5 minutes to understand, who finally assured me that they would inform their management. 10 days later, the profile is still active... I don't know how to express my disgust; I can understand that they don't update member profiles, but once alerted, nothing happens, that they can so shamelessly take advantage of someone's death just to expand their panel! It's nauseating.
So, I don't know what else to say, that was my experience on Meetic Affinity; at least, now I know what I'm talking about, it was almost worth paying after all.

Following up on my previous post, the PS has not been accepted and I have people adding me to their favorites again. Since now we have to pay and these people never send me a single message (I admit I do the same), I have no idea whether it’s sincere or not because I don’t even have access to their profile. Everything is designed to try to make us pay. Moreover, I strongly believe that these are fake profiles created by Meetic to try to get us to subscribe. I receive emails saying that certain people have visited my profile and I find it strange that for some people who add me to favorites, I do not receive an email saying that they have visited my profile. The person would add me to favorites without visiting my profile. It’s quite suspicious.

I intend to file a complaint. I subscribed to a ONE-YEAR membership (never do that), after which they find all sorts of excuses to cut off access. It's not my correct username, then they tell me that Meetic and Meetic Affinity are two different things, and the latest excuse is that my bank refused to process a payment (which is false). And my access is still blocked. I'm putting together a file with all their correspondence and the explanations I've dismantled one by one, and I'm going to make them pay for their organized THEFT.

I've been signed up for Meetic Affinity for several years (I was already registered back when it was Ulteem), and the options keep increasing. The latest change: now you have to pay to see who favorited you (I’m not going to pay when only 4 people added me). In recent weeks, there were a lot of people adding me to their favorites. I didn't believe it so much that I contacted customer service to say it was false and all those accounts were deleted. More reason not to subscribe. Yesterday it was free, I took the opportunity to send a few messages, which is something I usually never do, partly because I don’t dare and partly because I don’t think I have a stable enough situation for a relationship, so I prefer not to make the first move. Some messages were read, but the free period was over (it takes time to check and censor), and I’m not even sure they were read by the person or what was in them. I secretly added my msn by encoding an image, but did the person have access to it and did they think to check? (I had removed the http//www and the end, but if you paste the URL, it works anyway) No one added me on msn. Another thing, it’s written on profiles I’ve never visited: Contact this person for free (something like that), but on the profiles of people I sent a message to, it says: This person is waiting for a response from you and you have to subscribe. The problem is that even on the profiles of people who haven't read my message, it says that.

I've tried the free sites, but I have no more success or I end up with social cases. A girl slightly satanic, a prisoner of hell (it's written on msn) who's 14 years old when her profile says 20 years old. Fortunately, I’m the kind to do my research (found her YouTube profile where it said 14 years, and then she confirmed it to me)

You receive a message from a paying member... if you reply to them (which is supposedly allowed!!) they cannot read your response if you have provided an email address for them to contact you a second time! So our messages are being read or there is a program that detects them and thus tries to force us to pay for the subscription! It's disgusting!

You really have to read everything to avoid being taken in.

For the profiles that remain after cancellation, it is indeed unacceptable for Meetic to keep hundreds of inactive profiles "for more than 3 months", as mentioned, not to mention one year, two years, or maybe even more???

And the worst part is that these profiles show up in search results!
This suggests that if we removed all these inactive profiles, there wouldn’t be much left in reality.

It should also be noted that many of these profiles belong to our "friends" the Nigerian and Ghanaian scammers (Ivorian scammers prefer free sites...).

Indeed, their technique is to sign up, grab as many potential "pigeons" as possible, and obtain their MSN or Yahoo addresses.

Then, they abandon their profile or unsubscribe, then come back under different pseudonyms, and calmly restart their trafficking, as registration checks are far from effective, if they even exist at all on Meetic (same photo under several pseudonyms, ad in English for a man living in France, etc., etc....)

Meetic, which claims to be "the European leader in romantic encounters," would do well to focus on this problem of African scammers who have found a good way to get rich by scamming their clients!!!

It’s not enough to claim to do everything to tackle the problem and to take measures to secure the site; they really need to prove it.

WARNING ABOUT MEETIC !!!!! It's easy to subscribe but you need to be careful when unsubscribing. Be aware that cancelling your account with Meetic Affinity does not cancel your account with Meetic. So they will continue to charge you 12.90 Euros per month. When you call to complain, they are bad faith. They confirm that they can only refund you for 1 month and especially tell you to read the "terms and conditions" and Article 4.
IMPORTANT: Demand that your profile is no longer part of their database otherwise they will keep it despite your cancellation.

The issue with Candio is that most of the profiles on Meetic are empty; many women are unsubscribed but their profiles remain online. Additionally, many women who have not paid for a subscription still have their profiles online but cannot respond to messages until they have paid for a subscription.
I am in favor of Amoureux.com, which seems poor (with about ten to thirty people from my area and age group depending on the time of day), but at least we are not misled about the exact number of people present. As for Meetic, there may be less advertising, but men constantly receive more than questionable solicitations, and women are harassed by frustrated individuals and hardly have time to distinguish an honest profile.

I've received a number of messages from fiery blondes who had added me to their favorites, which is quite significant... the problem is that when looking at the girls, they always seemed to be about the same age, with pretty much the same look, so it starts to feel really suspicious... strangely, you write to these divas and not one replies. Even better, when you check their profile a few days later, it often seems to have disappeared... and without being able to certify it, it seems I've even seen the same photo on two different profiles... I can believe that some girls like to rack up expenses by opening several profiles, but still... if anyone has any idea where we can report this kind of thing so that someone can at least check it out.
