Wifirst cable connection

Hello,
I am a student in Arras, and we are offered a wifirst connection for €19.90 per month. The connection is made via an RJ45 cable and not by Wi-Fi. We are supposed to plug in our cable, connect to the wifirst network, and then subscribe through their website as previously explained.
But when I plug in my cable (provided with my laptop), I can't detect any network... The residence is indeed listed on the wifirst website, and the wifirst posters cover the walls of the hallways...
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
