Hello,
Money 2005 is not compatible with Vista, at least when importing ofx files. A big THANK YOU! to Microsoft!
For more than a year, I have been stuck with XPPro because I couldn't find a personal accounting software detailed enough like Money 2005. (I've been using Money for 5 years!)
However, a few days ago, I decided to change and bought Ciel Comptes Personnels 2009 (€25, so not expensive!)
I've been testing it for a few days and I find many advantages:
Import of Money or Quicken files!
Import of bank statements
A fairly extensive configuration of many functions
.... many other things not yet tested.
And especially this software is compatible with Vista!
But I still have a problem:
Money allowed the import of bank statements into the accounts and automatically assigned a category if it recognized the parties. My question is, does Ciel Comptes Personnels 2009 have this feature? If so, how does it work? I haven't found it for now!
Another small issue, somewhat related to the previous one: the import does not occur unless you assign a category to each line: indeed, it displays an error message:
error X ""The category cannot be empty.""
and this for each record of the file to be imported.
Thank you for your help and advice.

Hello,
Here is the procedure I have finally found after trying things out:
First of all, the file retrieval is done account by account (not for all accounts at the same time)
Exporting from Money:
- File/Export/Strict QIF compatibility/OK
- Select the location where the file will be saved, then rename the file while keeping the QIF extension (example: Laposte.QIF)
- Select Standard (for a bank account) then OK
- Select the account to export and click continue
Importing into Ciel Personal Accounts:
- First, create the folder corresponding to the account you want to import: Folder/New/...
- Menu Operations/Import Money Quicken/Select the QIF file to import (find it where you saved it)/Open
- Select the created account, then save the transactions
- If there are lines with errors, restart the import after unchecking the lines with anomalies (or correct them in Money and start the process over)
- If the import does not cover movements older than 6 months (default setting), go to Folder/Options/Working Date to modify the date range that interests you
Good luck-

Hello, I acquired Ciel Personal Accounting 2012 Premium. Although Sage specializes in professional accounts, I regret to note that the Ciel Personal Accounts software does not allow viewing both assets and liabilities (for example, including loans) on the same page, whereas Money 2005 already offered this feature. I contacted customer service, and they told me that it was not part of their specifications.

Hello
Here is my question: I have been working with Money 2003 since its release and also on XP! I just changed my old PC for a new one and I installed my Money 2003 program, which suits me very well, on my new PC that runs Vista. The installation went smoothly.
My problem is that I am unable to recover my data! Do I have to redo all my accounts as of today, or is there a solution??
Thank you for the future responses. -
Hello
I just bought the Ciel Personal Accounts Standard 2009 software
I can't import my data from Money 2004
Thank you in advance for your response infirmier47
Philippe-
Hello,
I was only able to personally import the money accounts into Ciel starting from 04/11/2008, as earlier transactions trigger an alert: data outside the software's date range!!
I haven't called Ciel yet but I plan to start fresh with a new file from 01/01/2009 anyway.
(The previous accounting will still be accessible with Money.)
In the meantime, I'm thinking about the categories to create...
However, I think it's mandatory to specify the categories for each transaction when importing the statement!! ??
What are your thoughts?

Hello,
As a former user of Money 2005, I stopped keeping track of my accounts for a year (not good) and decided to start over. After a long hesitation and browsing through forums, without necessarily finding the necessary information, I decided to buy Ciel Personal Accounts 2009, and I quickly realized that it didn't meet my needs. Here is my initial assessment:
- Advantages of Ciel:
. good management of payment methods with the ability to describe checkbooks and credit cards. What I found interesting is that for credit cards, you can set deferred dates. So, unlike Money, there is no need to create a card account with transfer issues at the end of each month - this suits me well because BNP mixes all transactions in the account statement and as a result, the reconciliation in Money is cumbersome.
. no mixing between semi-commercial sites and personal accounts in the software (MSN Money, finding the best credit,...)
. French product
- Disadvantages of Ciel:
. No updating of stock accounts directly on the Internet (you have to enter the prices manually)
. If an operation is entered in the wrong account, it is impossible to transfer the operation (cut/paste) to the correct account - you have to delete and re-enter
. There is less automation than in Money (for example, automatic reminder of the category for a known third party)
After starting to enter data in Ciel, I stopped and resumed data entry in Money 2008.
I may not have seen certain features in Ciel, please correct me if anything I said is not true.-

Hello
I completely agree with this message and am almost in the same situation. However, I haven't given up on Ciel because it doesn't seem possible to buy Money 2008 without a US address. Is that correct or is there a trick? (my trial version ends at the end of March)
Best regards- Precisions on MONEY-2008. I was able to get one from the US. 1) it does not include the files from previous versions. 2) it requires a registration code similar to Windows, which is controlled by MS. However, Money 2005 FR works perfectly on all versions XP, VISTA, and W7 as long as you proceed with the online update.
I tested EBP personal accounts = NULL in the reports but it manages the allocation of entries across multiple categories/subcategories well, so since you have CIEL personal accounts does the allocation retain a grouping window for the allocation or like some software generates as many entries as there are allocated lines? On the other hand, can we have global reports by categories AND subcategories for a given period? (impossible with EBP! we're dreaming), and can we easily export the reports to Excel? as well as the base entries?
Thank you.

I just bought Comptes Perso 2010 from Ciel after 6 years on Excel....
And well, there is no difference at all. It's utterly catastrophic and shameful to sell software at that price for the functions it offers.
I had used Money 2001 for about 4 years and found it pretty good... After installing Ciel, I felt like I had gone back to the Stone Age (software layout, information provided on the cover page, no updates on stock prices, no management of accounts in foreign currencies).
I deeply regret my purchase!!!

Hello,
I have Money 2005 and Vista.
You need to run Money as an administrator. (right click, run as admin)
It updates and works.
However, I have a problem when it synchronizes with Web Money.
Have a nice weekend. -
I am surprised by your statement regarding Money 2005.
Personally, I use it with Vista SP2 and, recently, with Windows 7 without ANY problems.
Best regards,

Hello, I just bought Ciel Personal Accounts and if you found a solution to your problem with the categories, I'm interested...
Also, if anyone knows how to manage a loan with funds being released in several installments (construction), I'm all ears!
Thank you in advance.-
Hello,
Categories must be indicated when the bank's OFX file window appears; that is, before importing into Ciel.
I didn't like this way of doing things: Money, on the other hand, automatically assigned categories by recognizing the counterparty, and if it didn't assign a category, it still imported the banking data, and one could assign a category later.
Ciel does not allow the import of uncategorized data, and ultimately this forces you to check your accounts more regularly: indeed, it is easier to assign a category a few days after a debit or credit than to wait 2 to 3 weeks...or more, to do so!
I have been using Ciel Personal Accounts for real since January 1st (after trying it for several weeks in 2008) for several accounts (one business, one personal, and savings accounts), all by downloading the data from the bank.
Ciel has huge customization possibilities (one can even get lost in it), but it is truly much more reliable and secure than Money or EBP. For now, I really find it suits me (HIHI) for a low price!
Otherwise, for loans I haven't looked into it but it is surely possible!
Bye
Didier- Hello
I have just acquired Ciel Comptes Personnel 09 for Mac, and I would like to import data from Money 2003. I exported from Money in a QIF file format but I don't see the option to import these files in Ciel. It offers data recovery from all completed accounts but not from GIF format. Can you help me? Thank you.

Hello Nurse 47, I too have just acquired in replacement of money 04 Ciel Personal Account 2009.
I am able to download my bank statements online from CRCA and during the import I only find one bank account while I have downloaded 5.
A BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP;

1. I bought Ciel Personal Accounting 2011, it's a disaster. It's an Excel base with some dressing. No forecasting for more than a year, for example. Contrary to what is stated: no retrieval from Money (*mny) but only qif files. And even then, when it doesn't create a blockage because it doesn't interpret it. So those using Money, don't hope for anything with Ciel, which I advise against buying. And I’m not even talking about the support, incompetent and unhelpful.
2. After changing my hard drive, I can no longer find my software. If someone has Money 2005 financial suite, I am willing to pay for a copy.
Thank you.-
I had an editing problem with a report using Money 2004 (expenses by category): Money crashed, probably due to a file that was too large or insufficient memory (512MB under XP). I then bought CIEL, which has an appealing commercial advertisement.
I had the same problem with CIEL. Moreover, its features are inferior to MONEY.
I tried to restore backup files from XP to VISTA: Crash. -

Hello
I just bought the standard Personal Accounts from Ciel.
I see in this forum all the critiques and remarks I've been making for the past two days.
I thought about stopping using Money 2002 due to two major crashes related to importing bank statements, which is still a big advantage these days.
Money did it perfectly by matching the already entered transactions.
But a few years ago, I had to recreate an account due to an unexplained incident during a transaction reconciliation. Every time I tried to read the downloaded statements in that Money account, it crashed ...
So I created a new account and left the "buggy" one aside.
This week, I encountered the same problem on another account. So I decided to change ... but for now, I'm struggling to import the data from Money (I finally figured out on my own the trick of removing the space in the first line of the qif file by comparing files with a hex editor (yes, I know notepad from XP would have sufficed ... ;-)) and hours ahead to recreate the dozen accounts and recover the data. -

Hello
I used Money 2005 for several years on XP without any problems! My "account" file contains 2 bank accounts (at the same bank) and the downloaded ofx files went directly into the respective accounts!
I think if this doesn't happen in your case, it's because your accounts are not properly filled in: account numbers in particular? etc...
Personally, I switched to Money 2008 in English, I retrieved my accounts from 2005 and there was no problem: everything works on Vista, which was not the case with Money 2005 and the ofx files from Crédit Agricole!
Best regards
Didier

Good evening,
I am a tutor and I manage the bank accounts of several protected adults. At the end of the year, I have to prepare a management account for the Judge.
I am looking for an easy-to-use software, especially one that does not require me to re-enter all the transactions from the numerous bank accounts I manage.
In the software description, it seems possible to retrieve bank account data via the internet. However, from reading your messages, this seems less straightforward. Could you explain to a beginner how to proceed?
Thanks a lot.

Thank you

Miracle!!!!
Under Windows 7, Money 2005 works wonderfully again, just like with XP.
Great.-
Hello
I also reinstalled Money2005 on W7 from XP, but I'm having a small display issue on the Portfolio page.
The "group by" box next to "Select a display" has disappeared, as well as the status bar and the indicators that could be chosen to display there.
I think it's due to the version of the update, as my original file updated in 2006 has a ref. > 14.0.50.2107 and the one available since the site closed is 14.0.120.1207.
Do you notice the same thing?

I had the same problem as you and I tried everything regarding the functions.. result.. I uninstalled everything... too slow and not automatic enough.. I really regret money.. unbeatable in management and its speed..
I also tried EBP... a bit faster and less complex than Ciel but the importation is also crappy... so to avoid and the same problem with Bank Perfect..
If you have any tips, I'm interested..

Strange, I have Money 1997 that I had with Windows 98 and it works very well under Vista, no data loss; the only drawback is that it no longer displays the reminder icon in the taskbar.
